Yeah, I saw it. Fieros have a terrible reputation, though. Most people laugh uproariously when I tell them it was my first car. I'm glad to know someone else has good experiences with theirs!

Aah the red Fieros. Chick magnets. A proto-type Toyota MRII.
But i suspect that it must have been an awkward drive for anyone over 6ft tall? What was the problem with it... fuel lines that rubbed against something causing a leak?

There were a couple of hum drums in between as well. Yeah I agree with all of you the 8ight drives beautifully.

Edit>As this is getting so interesting, I've decided to enter the more boring (strictly my own opinion, no offence to any bro or sis) rides I've own or is still owning:

1979--Ford Escort in blue
1980--Honda Civic in black brown
1982--Honda Quintet in blue
1996--Bmw 520i (e39) in silver (non steptronic)

2004--Bmw 520i (e39) in blue
2005--Bmw 520i (e39) in black (current)
2006--Bmw 320i (e90) in silver (current)

The best were the sports saloons (the 325i could sit at 235kph whole day) but as age and family caught on, the desire for a comfy and quiet ride took preceedence hence the entry into the executive class like the e39. But the boy in me wanted cars like the fairlady 300zx and the Rx-8. Also when I was hit by the feeling of mid-life crisis, I grabbed the Porsche & the Harley.

This is really firing me up very nicely.........thanks for reading.

.

Oh my...really impressive collection of rides u got...But 1 qns...y change so many 5
series beemer (E39) over the 3 yrs? Guess u must love bmw?

Lets c now...if i am in a mid life crisis, what car wld i get? Hmm...tough choice...

Fun Rides

Hi Bros/ Sis

2002 - Honda Civic Exi 1.5L EK (Auto)
Comfort car No Power

2003 - Mazda 323 1.6L (Manual)
1.6L in capacity but drive like 1.3L

2004 - Honda Civic VTi 1.5L ES8 (Manual)
Comfort car with reasonable power
Good fuel consumption
Better than Mazda 323

2005 - Subaru WRX STi (Total Loss 2006)
Major Accident and I REALISE WHAT SPEED CAN DO TO HUMAN BEINGS
Power Packed (Fully HKS Modded)

2006 - Mazda RX8
An almost perfect car except for the power compared to those 4WD Turbo Monsters (Speed and Power no longer in my mind though)
1st car I've decided to drive for at least 3 yrs

1988 –
a yellow 1972 Volkswagen… ok.. you can all laugh. It had 1200 cc with 4 speed. Had air, no con. I think it was called a blower then, every time it rained I had to have a cloth handy to wipe the screen coz it would fog up. Had a bumper sticker that read “Don’t laugh, your daughter could be inside”. Accidents with the car… It was raining one day while on my way for a bowling league, I pressed the break peddle and the breaks didn’t work… after screaming like a girl, I smashed into the back of a pick up truck. The bonnet popped open and the bowling ball flew into his cabin.

1990 –
a white Lancia Delta HF turbo… the epitome of crap on wheels. 142 horse-****-power contained in a chassis that everyone mistook for the Russian Lada. The turbo lag cold put you to sleep and when the turbo finally kicks in you are scrambling for the brakes already because the traffic light is upon you. Accidents with the car…. All I am going to say is Front wheel drive cars cannot drift. It was at marina south, I cracked the transmission block and axel… After I fixed it, I sold it. Last I heard the new owner crashed the car and it caught fire….

1994 –
a red Ford Laser… The red tomato. This little puppy I bought for 3000 bucks in Melbourne Australia. This car took me everywhere though the fit and finish lacks any refinement… it was the car that got me from Mount Buller to Arthurs Seat (Shire of Mornington Peninsula). Dandenongs to Bendigo and Ballarat. Finally sold it when I left Australia for about the same price to another international student.

1997 –
a green BMW 318 … What can I say…. ☺ it was everything the brochure said it would do.

1999 –
a black Toyota harrier …. Parallel imported, badges changed to the lexus. No problem with the car. Except for the fact my family always reminded me that it was a harrier and not a lexus…. Bunch of *****.

2003 –
a white Lexus RX300 … Basically I got fed up with them telling me it was not a lexus.

2004 –
a titanium grey rx8 …. What more can be said… the rest is history.

A good fren had this car around the same time. The Lancia agent must have sold the old two HF's in S'pore then! Wow! Rally car etc. Used to see it in the office car park for the first few months. Drifted in it a few times during our lunch break. Then gradually, I saw it less and less... eventually the car was sitting on bricks at home. He eventaully put out to pasture.

Hi Rei,

Somehow the e39 remains the all time favourite (not necessary exciting when compared to exotic machines but..), the size is near perfect, the engine sounds glorious especially during hard acceleration, the handling is well balanced, brakes & steers well. The angel eyes, the xenons, the comfort seats, the fit and finish drug your senses and lull you into some kinda heavenly bliss.

The rx-8 is my 2nd mid life crisis machine. I love its shape, the way the rotary spins and its responsiveness. The steering is very accurate and for all my clumsiness, the 8ight is a very forgiving ride. I feel pampered by it. Wanted to go for the 350Z as well especially the latest 294 bhp version but the desire for a rotary was much stronger!

And if you are encounering ur mid life crisis, allow your heart to rule your head! Happy days are ahead for you.............cheers.

Lets see.

1997-
A Yamaha TZR motorbike that revs more than 18k rpm. Perhaps 22k rpm. Serious.

1998- 2000
Civic Ek3. Most memorable. I sold it to a used car dealer and the following week COE drops to $50 and he realise my transmission gone. Big loss. Lucky me.

2000-early 2003
Mercs E220. Mum's car. Had to do NS thats why had to sell off old civic as i did not have much use for a car.

Mid 2003
Carless. Feels amputated. And always at other peoples mercy.

late 2003 - 2005
Bought my CRV. Thought those speed freak, crazy days are behind me and its time to start a family. Its just not me. Too much space, too heavy, too sluggish. At least i enjoy off road, parking on pavements and cadiac arrest inducing sound system.

2005 - now
Rx8. Thought i better buy "young man" car while i am still young. Originally wanted a DC5 but space was alittle too small. Plus i went home sleepless seeing the rx8 and bought it the next day.

The 8 still gives me a good feeling everytime i drive. Only con is mod wise; parts for hondas are incredibly abundant, cheap and reliable.

1996-2000: 1957 MGA--this car will teach you an appreciation for modern electronics... I'm sure I was the only person in school that carried a box of fuses in the car with me. I did the engine & tranny rebuild myself (with Pop's help) and in 2000 stripped the car down and did a full restoration, selling it for 20K. That 20K went toward my RX-8. I love my RX-8, but I miss this car.

2000-2004: Gary Fisher bicycle. I was saving money while at college by riding a bike everywhere. I wanted to pay cash for a sweet ride when I graduated... which I did!

The bumper sticker was a gift from, of all people...my mother....

Yes the delta was a true legend but unfortunately I didn't get that one ... this was the strip down model for singapore roads... As usual... I was the last to find out..

Yes... the Lada was the one that broke down nation-wide... I use to think Lada was russian for crap. You can do a search for Lada jokes... this was the one I always quoted back then...

Why does a Lada have a heated rear screen? To warm your hands while you're pushing it!

and

What's on the last page of a Lada owner's manual? The bus schedule!

I'll play too...

1997
Ford Festiva
Tall and slim ride, topple easily...shared with 4 other friends in Australia. Reached 160kph once, with the help of a long straight down-slope. Any small rock on the road would sent us tumbling...

1998
Hyundai Elantra
Changed to this car after one of my friend turttled the Ford Festiva, this time round with 3 other friends. Learnt our lesson, drove carefully for longevity...

1999
Some 9 pax vehicle mainly to transport human being to and from work...first left hand drive car. Given free by the company in France...boring but amazingly good for drunkards...plenty of space to lie down!

2000
1995 Mitsibutshi Galant.
Bought it for 5200USD. Gave me **** load of problems after i bought it, from timing belts wear to water pump leaking...eventually totaled the car and sold to some mechanic for 1500USD in less than 9 months.

2001
1996 Honda Accord 2dr coupe 2.2L.
I still miss this car, amazing FC, 30miles/G. Did at least 16-19 interstate travel trip in it.

2003
Believe it or not, another mitsibutshi galant...
1st brand new car i bought in Singapore. Almost $100k for that car during that time. Minimum problem since it's new. Brother in law total my car, market value 53k in less than 3yrs!! holy smokes!!

2006
Black 8
Love this ride...contemplating whether to drive it till COE end date 7yrs later.

You need to have a mobile phone to use this car and 1st number you must have is your "TOW TRUCK" guys (Least 3 times a year)
During that time Cars are so expensive (HIGH COE) and cant even afford to keep very nice no. plate EQ8080S (at that time you allow only for brand new car)

4th Car - used Nissan Bluebird SSS-X Nice No. 5545. I like the overall look - hardtop design, no A pillar where seat belt anchor from the roof and like the name "Bluebird" in Hokkien

5th Car - used C180 Mercedes Workshop favorite problems is Gear Box oil always leak cost 2.5K, funny noise from the engine and air-con. SCRAP/ Export it at the 5th year. Lucky the COE for that car is $88,000 and rebate is good lor...

6th Car - used ROVER 620SLI, I like the comfy drive (same like dude BLACKEIGHT)

7th Car - At last i got a brand new - BLACK HONDA STREAM with Fullbloom bodykit but is damm HOPELESS car
during raining day (Drift King) and exhaust censor problems. Sold after 12months drive.

8th Car - used SPORTY VW GOLF 1.6 vag (wagon) with FULL Oettinger Bodykit, lowered with KONI suspension, Oettinger Exhaust (very nice sound) and only 1.6L engine but move and drink like a 2liter

9th Car - Current BMW318 steptronic (18months) wife is driving.

10th Car - Current Silver RX-8 AT (2months Old) got from PI @ S$88,000 is a smooooooooooth Zoooooommmmmm car... Only 650cc x 2 and drink like 1300 x 2 hahahahahaha

due to poor reponse to the car from the folks in the states...must be feeling
pretty gd to drive that car in the states...Anyway, my mum used to have this car
in spore...my dad hates the car...he says the car's twin turbo will blow every
single time he decides the boy racer in him wants to come out...

N the pulsar GTI-R? Holy smokes...u guys here drove really cool cars b4 the 8...
