heheh, if it was a domestic thing, it would never be illegal. Even if it's the size of a stage.

If i am not wrong, if the bodykit protudes out too much, it will be considered illegal. A bodykit cannot have any sharp points or odd angles.

But IMO its whatever the unspector says counts. Even if it seem ok; as long as the inspector thinks its not ok; thats it.

Thats how it is here in S,pore. Just like drink driving, even if you are under the limit, they will charge you for drink driving if THEY THINK you are a danger.

Sounds like crap and autocracy to me, but what the heck, its how it is here.

And i can't believe we allow such 3rd world practices to happen...

check out http://www.onemotoring.com.sg

What the inspector says counts; for starters he can deem your vehicle unroadworthy and you have a big problem then.

Mosts 8s nowshould not have any mod problems yet as only 3 years and above cars require inspection.

But then you may be stopped by a TP at a roadblock and he will send you a ticket.

Its correct. Unless stop by TP for compulsory inspection, the worse for normal inspection is u fail. No fine or demerit points. Anyway from what i read in other forums, there are many who are guilty of much more illegal mods than body kit but those inspection centers just turn blind eyes and passed them. Whats the point of enforcing something thats 'unenforceable'? Does a clean car that pass inspection is clean 1 hr be4 inspection? Or clean 1 hr after inspection?? Nobody knows for sure and thats why garages have biz :D
Whatever u do, NEVER remove ur CAT.

Quick advice to u me friend! :D

If original dimensions are different, it MAY be deemed illegal. Onemotoring is only a general guide (note the disclaimer on the site itself). The exact provision (sorry me no access) is in the Road Traffic Act Subsidiary Legislation (Rules and Regulations).

U best action (or reaction) is to find someone who has imported the RX with a similar kit into SG. The kit must have been fitted BEFORE it came in. Me know that MS kit has been imported on a RX into SG before - so it qualifies as 'precedent'. Alternatively, contact u supplier of the kit and ask em to check with LTA for u. Or u may wanna consider writing LTA for clarification.

Worse case scenario - hope u still have u stock kit...

Those who do these 'ultra' mods. are
1) dirt rich
2) go through the back door for inspections. No elaborations.

I actually went to LTA technical's division to ask about modding before. Just a bunch of heck-care snobs. The answer in short is that what they think is what counts.

Yes, one motoring is a guide. But i have heard of people getting into trouble with something as simply as window tint. The poor guy has to redo the tint to pass inspections.

Have you guys realise most modded car are less than 3 years old; thus not inspected yet?

And it pays to be more polite to the cop who stops your car. Save you loads of trouble.

Good advise esp to the cops!

If ur car has lots of illegal mods, it is cheaper to get a garage to send the car for inspection on ur behalf. If ur mod is easily reversible, maybe cheaper to de-mod and fix back after inspection. Dont ask me which garage cos I dont know and my car is not 3 yrs yet :D
and my car still stock :D

As to inspectors, those at inspection centres are diff from the LTA ones. LTA ones surely 'bo chap'. They wash their hands off until ur car appear be4 them.

eg. turbos? or suspension mods? Bodykit? One thing at a time also costs at least 1k and above for lower end modding.

I know of a guy who spent more modding on his rex than buying the car itself.

I think its ex to do extreme mods but ok if you are talking about low end and if you do it one at a time.

Sounds familiar... :D

But seriously - maybe he budgeted for the mods before getting the car?
