But 3rd gear can spin faster(smaller gear) and thus would be faster than 2nd gear. But has less torque. So if have sufficient torque would be fine to switch. Depends on your training and the amount of fast twitch muscle you have. Some ppl can change gear at amazing speed such as drag racers.

 

Guys, I tried 235km/h reving at about 8500rpm while driving back from KL. I feel I could go a little more lah but lack of distance. Anyway at 235km/h, I still lost a mod Mit Airtrek turbo... *SOB.. Btw mine is stock from MM...

 

strange... if wat u said its true, i remember when i tried my stock MM 8 that time i did was doing 235kph at 7300rpm on 6th gear. how to lose a lesser aerodynamic car like Mit Airtrek turbo? (breaks my heart )

If u on 6th gear at 245km/h, the rpm should be around 7800rpm, with some cat. ,exhaust, intake & ecu mod, possible to see 260km/h, but that very danger w/o handling & brake mod.

 

Maybe you are reading the speedo wrong or the tacho wrong. The speed and rpm doesn't match the gear ratio...in both 5th and 6th gear. If yours is stock something is wrong Either that or your final drive is changed

The 8 has a speed cut off at 240 so it is no big deal losing to some cars. In fact most cheaper cars that is mod can go faster than the 8(no cut off and the increase the horses by mods). Driving fast on a straight road isn't a skill. Just floor the throttle only. The 8 is meant to take handling well(finesse rather than muscle)
