squeaking sound when braking
Hi all
i am having this problem on and off for a few days liao.
When i am braking, i can hear a squeaking sound coming from my 8.
i am 4AT but have changed to 18 inch stock rims.
Have driven to my PI workshop but when showing the tech, the sound was not there. However, when i am driving on my own. it came back again.
Does anyone encounter this problem???
please help me, thanks

Read from some of the sub forums abt guys everywhere facing the same
problem...if i remember correctly, the remedy shld be changing the pads, rotating
the disc rotor or do a proper breaking in of ur brakes? U might wanna check out
some of the sub forums threads to find out more?

it is probably coming from your front brake pads. if your car is under warrenty still then there is a tech service bulletin for it and they should replace them, search and you will find a few threads about it. My brakes are squealing but they won't change my pads under warrenty so I just ordered a set of hawk ceramic pads. if you search there are also DIY's on brake replacement here.

thanks alot Coupe07 for the clarification.
i am so worried everytime the sound comes in. The brakes are very important for a car as it involves the safety of the driver and passengers so i have to be special careful.
i dun mind bringing down my car for a check up if your workshop timing allows. i am looking at early sat morning. Can confirm?
my hp no is 90903199
maybe can go down fix leds for front too , hehe

haha... maybe you're too sensitive leh? like me, I send my car in 3-4days in a week for minor sounds hahaha... even the mech said im too sensitive... soooo i took peoples advice and just enjoy the car as it is... although i know your concern... and in fact its a good thing that you love your car so much. I got my brake pads changed just after 1 day buying the car. PI promised to pay me back but F**KING conned me. until now i havent get the claim yet. Lesson learnt, that all salesman eventhough they are your friend/ex-employee but you have to take all necessary precautions. Most are sharks, there are definately some good 1's but its a minority.

My 8 sounds like a freakin metro bus when I pressed lightly on the brakes (ie coming to a stop light, etc).
I'm really skeptical of the whole "all good brake systems make that noise". I stop in traffic, and people turn heads because of the noise. There are 350Zs, BMWs, G35's, etc and they don't make this noise when they stop.
My friend drives a G35 with Brembos and has 40k miles on it....has never been replaced and doesn't squeal.
If it wasn't a problem, why would Mazda issue a TSB over it? Supposedly their new pads do better than the originals, but that has not been my experience.
I went in at 12k miles and got my pads replaced with their "improved" version. 8k miles later, and I'm back to sounding like a bus when I stop.
