hi jetblast,

i bought e spare tyre from MM. a strut bar will be fitted in the boot and the spare tyre is attached to it by a means of a screwing ****. the rims are yellow in color and they tyre is thinner than the original. overall space in the boot is not greatly compromised. you could still put quite a number of stuff.

basically i bought it for a piece of mind when travelling to M'sia. it'll only be in the boot when i drive there, in Sin, no need lah.

Question jetblast...why wouldn't MM sell it to you given you have a PI and are willing to pay the dollars for it? Is MM that biased on the PI's?

 

MM was pretty sore about not being able to get the 8 early, so lost quite a lot of sales to PIs. As a result, they took out an ad last year to announce that they will not entertain PI cars, for servicing or for parts.

Sure doesn't sound bright, eh?

 

Hi Fab...man, that's flippin crazy of MM if they do that. Structurally a Mazda 8 is a Mazda 8 yeah, no matter where it comes from, JDM or Euro spec. Sure, there are mechanical diffs between the two and maybe MM won't service the AT or other JDM's since they're not tooled as such, but If MM doesn't support PI owners on simple after market accessories due to where u bot the car then I'm really losing faith in MM

Well since we r at it i will gladly recap my incident with MM.

Had one of my rear lights fogged up and drove up to MM at Macpherson. Asked the salesperson if they had it in stock and he was actually quite helpful at first, giving me the price and everythin TILL he asked ' How come ur car so new and light is leaking already?'

I told him mine was from PI and a couple months old liao. He simply said ' Oh, grey importers, we dont entertain u guys.' whilst pointing to an actual poster that says we do not entertain PI's cars or somethin to dat effect.

I stormed outta the freakin place. Never luked back. SUX! Must the the personalities of chinese people. KIA SU! Pui!!

Myopic business mentality from MM. They should emphasize service, parts etc which most PI cannot/unable to support adequately and hope to win existing customers/new customers to their fold instead of pissing more people off. They will lose them for good. I am really marvel that in this time and age, MM still believe such practices can bear fruit. How naive can they be.
A biz is a biz. Not supplying parts to PI car does not mean the PI cust will dump their ride and get from MM. However it does ensure that most PI cust will continue to buy PI cars (esp Mazda) the next time round.
If there are any MM people reading this, WAKE UP YOUR IDEA!
I will not get the spare tyre set from MM (although mine is a MM car). No mood leh. Next time I drive up M'sia, just buy 1 spare one and dump it into the trunk.

well well kind of disappointed that MM shove away PI cust... instead they should deal with PI cust more to earn more $$ by helping them service thier car... dunno wat MM is thinking though... anyway kewl off man
