You guys are too kind *blush* Anyway, just want to state a disclaimer that these data are just figures... no guarantees that they are 100% accurate, but I'm fairly confident because some of the runs used for comparison are done multiple times on different days and then averaged out during analysis. As I accumulate more run data over the next few days/weeks/months, then the accuracy increases but the data is fairly consistent as it is.

Just drove in the rain today... no problems at all, but it wasn't the super heavy torrential type of rain. Under extreme heavy rain where you can't even see 10ft in front of you, or if there any flooding, I'd advise you to park somewhere and turn off your engine. Safer for you and avoid ingesting water into your engine which WILL be very costly.

8citing: Which to install? I comes down to personal preference and more importantly your budget. Simota looks good, sounds good, decent performance and inexpensive compared to the REVi. The REVi, looks like a plain old intake box, sounds barely louder than stock, performs very well and cost almost twice is much as the Simota. So it depends on what you are looking for from the intake system. Those who like the open pod suction sound with some "ummph" and the wet carbon fiber heat shield under the bonnet may prefer the Simota. Whereas those who like their intake to be silent and perform well may prefer the REVi. At the end of the day, personal preference and also budget. At ~$1K a pop for the complete REVi system, it's quite a pricey piece of plastic.

You're welcome... it's always a pleasure. What 12 horses? No intake can give 12 horses for our RX-8. Anyway, the Simota stock has arrived but please standby while we resolve some issues. I'll update the Simota Intake thread accordingly soon.

Alright, ladies and gents... Due to some requests to get the Racing Beat REVi Intake and REVi Ram Air Duct, I'm organising a purchase for those who are interested to get either or both of them. Price is fixed by Racing Beat, but perhaps can save a bit on shipping and share the cost of the wire transfer. If you are interested, you can list yourself here and state what item(s) you wish to get. PM me if you have any questions.

To get it started, I know my bro wants this....

1) coupe07 - REVi Ram Air Duct
2)

coupe: Of coz... how to forget? Brudder car summore....

Emp: Intake is US$336 and duct is US$135 direct from Racing Beat. Based on the current USD/SGD conversion of around 1.69, with S/H, import tax and shared wire transfer fee, you're probably looking at around S$760 for the intake and S$320 for the duct. Actual price may vary slightly depending on the currency exchange rate. I think coupe paid over S$800 for his intake previously and I paid over S$1.2k for my intake & duct coz of 'sitoopid' 14% Canadian taxes. :D

NG: I don't know of any difference for the REVi Intake and REVi Ram Air Duct for the 4AT and 6MT. It should all work fine, except the gains may not be as high for the 4AT but that's only because of the difference in the engine/spec between the 4AT and 6MT and not because of the intake or duct. Racing Beat's website http://www.racingbeat.com does not specifically say it's for the manual or auto. However, due to the difference in our local 8s from the North American 8s, the duct mounting points are a bit different and will require fabrication of longer mounting brackets. Or you can just bolt it at one point like I did. Also remember that if you have a bodykit with a different front bumper, you have to measure the dimensions of the air inlet to make sure it can accommodate the width and height of the duct.

We have tested the intake on both US spec and RHD spec cars, with no fitting issues or problems. We have tested the duct on only the US cars, but I cannot see a reason why is would not function correctly on RHD or auto trans cars.

Most of the performance gains from ANY aftermarket intake are likely to occur primarily in the upper RPM range (7000-9000), you will probably not benefit greatly from the gains on your AT car. The AT selects the next gear well before it reaches this range, unless you are driving the car in the "manual mode."

Above is the reply from RB ..... specially for those "on the fence" :D ..... final decision is still yours afterall.

Low rider, thanks for finding out the info from Racing Beat. As I've mentioned, it should work on the manual and auto RX-8s. The performance gains from ANY aftermarket intake for the RX-8 is only marginally better than stock and some not so reliable ones even sap power or cause idling problems. Racing Beat's REVi Intake and REVi Ram Air Duct is one of the better intake systems around for our 8. Gives a measurable increase in power and has no issues with idling or engine stalling. For those guys who are interested, I'm going to place the order with Racing Beat soon. So if you're still on the fence, please decide soon and let me know. So far, I've only got coupe's order for the REVi Ram Air Duct.

SQ, I know this is too much to ask....but is it possible to fit one in my AT and try?

I'm not too concern with the gains....juz to ensure there's no idling issues. I prefer the revi as compared to the simota one; as the revi is boxed up...n looks better in the engine bay :P

I'm more hiao on looks than performance gains.

It's not really TOO much to ask... but it's not easy to arrange. I can't say how much it'll improve the performance of your 4AT, but I can almost guarantee you that there'll be no idling issues with the REVi. Racing Beat is one of the most respected brands for rotary tuning in America and trust me, they have done their R&D through and through. When you look at the design of the REVi Ram Air Duct, you can see that they have covered all the angles and thought of everything. If it's within your budget, this is the intake to get.

Ok, I'm finalising the order. So if you want the REVi Intake and/or the REVi Ram Air Duct, please let me know asap. I'll check one last time just before I place the order with Racing Beat tomorrow. Final call, so only write to me with order confirmation (and not questions).
