Should I bring my RX-8 to SG?

I'm moving from Japan to SG.

The cost for taking it through customs is quite steep but I heard the price was quite high in SG so perhaps I can get it back if I sell it there?

Its quite a long process to bring your car into Singapore. You can check out www.onemotoring.com.sg for the requirements. Probably can get a parallel importer to help? Dru8999, care to give some input?

Hi Fab8, I am the last person u should call when it comes to parallel importing as i know next-to-nothing about it. The ideal person should be RX-666. Btw, did u get the pics i send u of the 1st Aug meet?

Generally, a car's value depends vey much on your OMV and COE :D See how much urs is if u do bring it into singapore. And i am sure u can find some good info at onemotoring.com.sg too.

Our car, probably lookin at 1xK+ depreciation a year... and a brand new 6 MT (JDM) cost about 145-155 depending on options and a Euro about 135-145.

i think it is not worth to bring it back...
the omv will be higher, plus it will be considered as a 2nd hand car, so you have to add $10k on top of the usual custom duty and taxes...
and it is difficult to get loan, you have to pay in full first, and get a loan later (if you manage to find one).

Yo MagnusB! If u do bring u RX back, make sure it's STOCK (completely). The checks that'll be run are VERY thorough... [shudder]

Why not just get one when u here? Unless it's for sentimental reasons... that I can understand! Cheers!
