Fuel Consumption in Local Context

Hi

understand that this has been posted to death, however, i would just like to find out how is the fuel consumption of RX8 in Singapore (given road conditions, temp, humidity, etc)

would appreciate if you can state whether your RX8 is an Auto, Manual 5, Manual 6 (PI) or Manual 6 (Mazda Motors)

Cheers!

Mine's a Type E Auto. I keep a detail record of my consumption and can say that on average, I can get about 300km per full tank. Based on my calculations, that's about 5.8km/l, using Caltex 98. However, last month, i decided to switch to Shell 98 after and guess what, i managed to hit 380km in one tank b4 the low fuel light came on. That's based on a lot of highway driving that week, plus some of the usual running about around town. Will continue to monitor the consumption in the meantime and post updates fi there's any changes.

Aha!.... FULL tank only 220km... cheee I m having a TYPE S - MT6. On the average full tank CALTEX 98, I can hit 285 to 300. But again I do lots of city driving and have a heavy right foot.......

Hehehe. r u running on 3 rotors......... Btw, have U hit the 5000km run in millage yet? if not I think your fuel consumption will be improved once U has run in your 8. On the other hand, No12 claimed he can hit 420 on the average full tank and his millages is > than 10,000 km ............ hehhehe .. but I think his is running with 1 rotor only hahahaa.....

Anyway, Rotary engine by nature is a fuel sucker............:D

I will definitely put in Shell 98 once the month of July is up. Right now, I am back to Caltex acccumulating receipts in order to get the free Wild Wild Wet tickets. But I was really very surprised when I hit 380km with Shell 98 two weeks ago and I can assured everyone here that there is no mistake about it.

nope, don't own a RX8 yet. but very very very gian. can't seem to stop thinking bout it.

contemplating on getting either a 5 speed or 6 speed and was hoping to get some real world data first; rather than believing dealers.

to share my encounter. just called up a PI today and asked him abou the fuel consumption. He said, "13-14 km/l based on Straits Times". I blatently told him that this is BULL and that surveys in RX8 club indicated otherwise. He tried to squirrel off by mentioning that surveys from RX8 club are not accurate. Duh!!!!!!!! all the RX8 owners on planet Earth can't be that wrong right?

just another experience with one of the badeggs.....maybe i should just get from MM.

thanks for posting your results.....keep it rolling in.

btw, i agree Shell does give about 10-15% more km. this is incomparison with Mobil

Err.... the RX-8 has a fuel tank of 61 L. Even if the light is on at the 11 L mark, that means 50 L for max 380 to 420 km.

That means only 7.6 to 8.4 km/L. That's a lot of difference from the published 15 km/L.....

Is my computation above correct? Any comments?

Never believe in the published figures, they have never been right for any cars before. You can only believe in the figures from owners themselves! Cheers!

I've heard alot of people get slightly better milage with SHELL, frankly, I don't see no different.
If one got to PAY more per litre on shell as compared to other brand, you're already paying for that so called extra milage.

I've got the 6MT from MM and I'm getting between 5-6km/l. I'm using BP, and each top-up is approx 50l and I get between 250-300 km.

I spent some time in Singapore a few years ago, and almost move there as an expat for the bank I was working for at the time.

Just out of curiosity, how much does an RX-8 cost in Singapore including the cost of the COE?

My clearest recollections of Singapore are intense heat and humidity, freezing air conditioning, along with the most beautiful women I've ever seen and the best food I ever had in my life (I spent most of my time frequenting the food courts).

I still regret not moving my family there. Of course, we would have arrived just in time for the Indonesian forest fires of 1997.
