SG: CNG conversion kit for the 8?

Hi,

I was reading mycarforum.com . There has been a lot of interest in using cng (gas) as an alternative to petroleum.

Would the cng conversion kit work on the 8? cos' didn't really see anyone talking about it. If can use cng, then it would definitely cut down the fuel budget by a significant quantum.

There was talk mazda is devloping a CNG 8 if i am not wrong. Read it in hotstuff and another online article. Its said the rotary is very suitable for it. And CNG is very very cheap; IF ITS NOT TAXED $0.70 A LITRE!!!

But the biggest problem is, where to fill up?

All car can be converted, unfortunately only 1 Cng station in Singapore which is in Jurong Island. All the White Mercedes Taxi using cng are doing their refueling there. You should asked them how inconvience it was to pump gas in Jurong Island. However your car can still remain using normal petrol, if gas run out.

CNG is still cheap. Can go m'sia to top up. They have top up stations within the JB region. Just have to be disciplined to go there regularly. Switch between gas and petrol, so that always have sufficient petrol for you to reach the gas station. :D

Jason,

A bit of convenience wouldn't hurt, rite? lol. Plan to have cng, once I get an 8. Over 2-3 years of cng usage can make back some of the cng initial outlay. That means, can only get PI 8.

Just curious. The sg rx-8 guys didn't go for the cng conversion, cos' of the lack of refilling stations (other than the warranty issue)?

Thanks everyone.

Are you joking? Why would anyone want to buy an RX8 and convert to CNG?? You dont buy this car hoping for good fuel economy...

The FC for 8 is not that bad lar. Just have to stop thinking its a 1.3L and start realizing that it is actually a 2.6L. :P

You driving the 350z? And at 3500cc, fc is about 9 or 10 km/l right? Our rotary waste alot of fuel through heat.
