Your windows have aftermarket tint? I don't care what anybody says...........if you use a metallic based tint...............you can at times have some issues.

nope... no tint I think. Generally I get ok reception when I do my daily CTE-PIE plough.... only noticed the interference when I drive in tunnels during weekends.

oh wait I just realised you are not singaporean ha ha. sorry for the acroynms.. we are famous for that. CTE and PIE are just acroynms for the expressways we have in Singapore. But nothing compared to to highways in USA which can stretch for miles. Sure wish I can drive my 8 on an endless highway.... won't happen in Singapore unless u purposely drive around 3am in the morning, wack 42 km only from west to east.

Yeah, I knew what you were talking about. Haven't been to Singapore yet, but have been to Taipei, KL, Bali, and parts of remote Java.

Ha Ha......yep, one of the reasons I haven't been there yet, but half of the trips have been for business and half for surf. Try to surf even on business trips but location or time doesn't always make that possible.

Maybe the FM modulator

Mine's was like **** til i changed it. Much better now, even though not as good as the DAB system i had on my previous touring..

If you want really good, get an alpine commander and add on a DAB... don't think you need to change the whole system

before you do anything - check you have a good connection at the antenna on the rear windscreen .It is a bit*h to get out without damaging so be carefull .
This has been the cause of porr reception for a few members .

FM Modulator should be able to get at any audio shop, I think. I got it changed for free when I installed the CD changer at my friend's shop. So should be relatively low cost.

Just to let you know how bad it sounded previously.. I've never heard such a s*** system before.. even my friend's system in his company's van sounded better... listen to CD halfway interrupted by FM channels... listen to FM channels damned bad reception... so gave up, shut down the radio and listen to the engine sound

89.5Mhz = 89.5Mhz or 99.5Mhz
90Mhz = 90 or 100 Mhz

Anyway I'm sure there's no radio station pass 100Mhz that you'll listen to.

I can't find any threads about the rear windscreen antenna connection. Any hints on how to disconnect it without breaking it? Looks like there is a clip on cover to remove before removing the spade connector?

My 2005 radio reception just started acting up. I'll check the antenna connection. What's the FM nodulator? Also, could it be that the head unit itself is failing?
