Seriously.. I doubt this will be the RX8 killer.. lacks the curves and just ain't sexy enough (its a nissan design.. what more can I say?).. and the inside is typical ' Japanese design.. functional, not appealing.. nuff' said.. *Goes back to bed with his RX8*

Our RX-8 is not even close to Nissan's new GT-R. Mysql101 is correct by stating that it is more of a "corvette-competitor" rather than that of an RX-8. Nissan even stated that the new GT-R's target competitors are the Corvette and Porche. The new GT-R and the RX-8 are not even on the same class. Stock to stock, the new GT-R will smoke the RX-8 without breaking a sweat. Heck, even a fully modded forced-induced well-tuned RX-8 "may not be able" take on Nissan's new monster.
Just by looking at some stats of both cars, you can easily see that the two of them are not in the same league or class:
RX-8 engine/power: 1.3 Liter RENESIS 2-rotor rotary / 232 hp @ 8,500 rpm - 159 lb-ft torque @ 5,500 rpm
GT-R engine/power: VR-series twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 / 480 hp @ 6,400 rpm. - 430 lb-ft torque @ 3,200–5,200 rpm
RX-8 0-60 mph (or 0-96.6 kph) time: 5.9 sec
GT-R 0-60 mph (or 0-96.6 kph) time: 3.5 sec
RX-8 top speed: 148 mph (or 238 kph)
GT-R top speed: 193 mph (or 310 kph)
RX-8 price (US $): around $30,000
GT-R price (US $): currently estimated around $70,000
So there is really no point in comparing the two. Some may argue about the look and style (both interior and exterior) of the two cars. But that's purely subjective. When it comes to performance and price though, there is no comparison between the two.
I personally like both cars. I love the RX-8 and I own one. But the new GT-R also makes me want to drool. It's a damn beast!!

In order to make my argument come across to show that there is "no point in comparing the two" - I had to show comparisons between the two cars and show how far apart the RX-8 and the GT-R are from each other. In a way your reply is specious because it's like me telling you that "there is no point for me in explaining myself to you." And then you coming back with a whim retort like, "but you just did." Nice try though. hehe
Anyways, pics from the other thread:
