RX-8 driver seat options.....

All....if you could recommend a great after market drivers seat....which would it be? Bride or Recaro or another alternative for the 8? What fits best and what's best value for money? Note, I don't want something to excel at the track, just a good solid comfortable seat that will make street and Msia driving more, uh, interesting

If u do not want something to excel at the track than our original seat is consider as good.
Its only on the track that u will be doing very high speed cornering and be thrown out of the seats. (therefore fighting to get back into the seats most of the time)

But if u are driving the same way as u did on the street like what u did on the track.

I recommend Sparco Evo. I when to miki and test "SEAT" the Sparco and Recardo and find that the Sparco is more value for money.
and most important of all its cheaper. and offer the seats to be place super low.

Our original seats is at least around 10-15 cms from the car floor. the Sparco and Recardo have super low rails and the seat can be place just 5 cms from the floor.

This is extremely useful if u are wearing a helmet.

I can't seat upright with a helmet on the orignal seat. as a result theres a gap between my lower back and the seat and I have to fill the cap with a small pillow.
But with the sparco all the problems are solve and its very friendly to those tall drivers.

Recaro!! Recardo is either the replica seat or that guy from I Love Lucy!!

Is your original seat leather? The stock 8 seat looks decently bolstered/padded so it's the material that makes it slippery.

Whatever seat you choose, go for the non-FIA ones to save $$$ and i think Bride is definitely more expensive than equivalent Sparcos or Recaros - but Bride has that ultimate JDM brand thing

TOO bad most of the recaro or sparco seats are FIA certify

Those non Certify ones are those very low ends one. with out a solid back support and thin cushions. very un-comfortable.

Yeah, it's definitely the leather that causes the slipping around during corners, but I also find the support at the sides of the seat, both upper and lower, not so good. I'm looking for a more "fitted" seat to control body movement, maybe also sit a bit lower as Morgan suggested, but still comfortable for everyday driving....thanks for the suggestions.

Unless you track or autoX, you might wanna stick to the original leather for more comfort on the streets.

Gen bro, i think u wont go for pure bucket right? Me neither when i was hunting for mine. I wanted more grip esp near the shoulders as original kinda sux in dat department. I also wanted mine to be adjustable (reclinable) so i went with JIC. Very comfortable and good grip for me.

Happy hunting!

Neon, thx for the tip on JIC. You're exactly right, don't want the buckets, just a better supporting seat. Is yer JIC the JR01? In HR96, that JIC looks great. I also like the Recaro Sport JC, even the MS seat looks pretty good.

Apart from Miki at Tanney lane and ST Power at Kim Chuan.

Who else in Singapore sells Racing car seats?

BAD NEWS...

The mazda motor RX8 comes with 6 Air Bag and they are connected in a Loop Circuit.

Theres one Airbag each in the front seats
So if we remove the original leather seats , it will break the loop and the Check light will appear. and hence all the rest of the 5 Airbags will not be usable.

So theres a high chance that if u remove and replace one of the seats all the airbags will be deactivated.

I'm not very sure if the loop can be connected with out one of the airbags. Will find out later.
