Dont worry abt parking! I will instruct most of the other cars (except my friends and close family) to use the underground cp leaving the 8s free rein of the larger car park on the grounds at Victoria Park Road.

Heh I'd not gotten my car for more than a month when i drive in devilish8's convoy this year . And that was my first tme ever doing a wedding convoy...you can guess how excited I was to see so many 8s then. Poisoning on a grand scale. I never recovered...

Dear all,

Thanks to everyone who responded! After recce on two weekends, here is the route for the wedding convoy on 9 December 2006.

Movement will be from Kampong Arang Road to St Ignatius Church @ Kings Road, Bukit Timah.

Traffic Conditions: Expected medium to heavy traffic owing to time of day. Depending on weather, road conditions may vary from bone dry to WetWetWet.

Communications: Walkie talkies will be used to bridge communications from the convoy lead to the rear vehicles.

Pre-1330 hrs @ Concentration Area):
For your comfort, I suggest the multistory carpark at 12 Kampong Arang Road (see Map A). Naturally it is sheltered and thus more comfortable for you guys. The wedding car will be parked on the 4th floor of the carpark. You may wish to line up in order of move. Light refreshment will be provided. Indent is as per list.

1330-1345 hrs @ Form Up Area

Vehicle Line-Up: Gentlemen (and lady), start your engines! Cars form up along Kampong Arang road. (see Map A) Depending on how many cars there are, tailback can be up to Performance Motors showroom and down the road to Dunman High hostel. Perhaps you may want to entice people to think twice about buying a 3-series. Order of move is as per vehicle colour:

1. Lead / Outrider: Amethyst Black & the Blues (Stormy Blue / Winning Blue)
2. Wedding Car
3. Reds (Velocity / Copper / Heinz Tomato)
4. Brilliant Blacks + Amethyst Blacks
5. Snowflake Pearl Whites
5. Rear Escort: Sunlight Silvers and Galaxy Greys
6. Safety Car / Blocker / 2nd Most Important Car: INXS (This is because safety cars have go-faster stripes, as going faster is safer)

Safety Briefing: This will consist of telling everyone to check whether they have more than ¾ tank of petrol and to fasten their seatbelt. Hahaha. Vehicles will move out at 1345 hrs sharp. This will be followed by distribution of a red certificate of participation.

1345 – 1445 hrs D-Day H-Hour

1. Move out from Form Up Area onto Mountbatten Road, then Sims Way (heading in the direction of the PIE). Vehicles spread across 3 lanes.

2. Follow usual rounding route up to PIE. Maintain convoy integrity. Safety car and rear vehicles assist with lane control. Note choke points 1 and 2 on Map B.

3. Filter onto PIE in the direction of Bukit Timah. Due to single lane entry, convoy will be moving in single file. Note choke point 3 at entrance to PIE (see Map C).

There is a chance that we will split up. Lead cars will occupy lanes 2 and 3 on PIE, reform convoy in 2 rows and slow down (45-55 km/h which is the estimated expressway speed in lane 3 at that time) until last car / safety car catches up. If anyone thinks we are too slow, they have lane 1 to overtake. When last car catches up, convoy can occupy lanes 1 and 2. Safety car and rear outriders will initiate formation change by changing lane to block.

4. Exit PIE to your left at Eng Neo Avenue (see Map D). By now, hopefully we will be in one straight line. Lead car to hold position at Dunearn Road traffic light and let it turn red (if it isn’t already).

5. From Eng NeoAvenue, go straight down Dunearn Road. Under the Adam Road flyover, there is a traffic-light assisted U-turn. (see Map E) We will have to go back up Bukit Timah Road.

6. Enter Duchess Road. Convoy to stop and regroup if necessary. (see Map E)

7. Enter Kingsmead Road. Deafen residents. Reach church carpark. End of Wedding Rounding.

8. Makan! Light refreshment will be provided.

I originally wanted to exit at Stevens Road then go up Bukit Timah Road, but the traffic was super heavy over 2 weekends and there are lots of break contact points. It would be doable if we occupied 2 lanes and maintained a steady / slow speed but too complicated and stressful.

FYI the lao po has passed her Basic Theory Test. Her goal is to drive the 8 by end January (legally).
