Redline Buzzer

Guys,

I went past 9000+ rpm a few days ago and today I made 9500 rpm - I hit an abrupt, rather disconcerting fuel cutoff. I didn't hear any buzzer or chime. Is that only in the US model? Any JDM Type S owners ever heard redline buzzer/chime? Thanks.

And yeah, 9500 feels great! That's what we are in it for right?

I hear the chime all the time... :D Starts at 8,500 rpm, although its not very audible. I haven't hit the cutoff yet...usually will shift by 9,000-9,200rpm, which is enough for a little chirp from 2nd to 3rd with DSC off :D

You want to change as high as possible so the engine is still in the top power band (secondary runners open) when you grab the next gear.

Watch the video of Laguna Seca - he goes all the way to 9,500 just before the rev-limiter.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hymee, you are right, changing at a higher rev will ensure you remain in the powerband.

I also noticed from the videos that the drivers usually power shifts - you can see the revs shoot up from 9000 to 9500 when they grab the next gear. But of course they shift so damn fast!

Thanks guys. Perhaps I was too excited and it was too noisy to hear chime. I just wanted to hit 9500 once in a life time - die die must try ahhh! 3rd gear, slight up gradient, Telok Blangah area.
