That rattling sound

.. is what they call "marbles in a can".

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/more-marbles-can-observations-93836/

I read this thread few days ago, but I just realised what they are talking about. I had this all the time in fact. I want to know if any of you experience it as well.

Says from the link I posted is that it's not pinging. Whatever that is. I only changed the exhaust, though the CAT is still on. What's the reason for the sound? You said you used to have it... do elaborate thanks.

Well... I used to have very light sounds.. prolly at ard 7000-9000 rpm.. Very very light...

THen when i swapped the air cleaner for a custom made pipe + Apex'i one.... The car ran leaner on dyno.... (I think it was that net, not sure).... And the pinging got louder but with a slight surge in power lol.....

I put back the stock airbox and it dissapeared.....

===== That was Then =====

The last time i saw pinging was when i installed turbo and car was not tuned... Heavy pinging.... All that dissapeared after i tuned the car and did some timing adjustments

Spoke to a friend about that noise, and he said it's most likely pinging. From what I understood it concerns the air/fuel mixture - which is the cause of the sound. Now what MAKES that sound? Is it an actual part rattling? Misfiring? Huh wha?
