Question Problems with 6AT gearbox?

hi all,

sometimes, at auto mode, my gear get stuck at a particular gear (say at gear 3) and refuse to change gear (to gear 4) after rev-ing the car hard & release the accelerator suddenly. (it is like the torque converter is unable to engage the next gear, and the rpm remains at a certain value)

anyone experience this?

I have that on my 4AT too. My take is that it's designed to hold in gear 3, in anticipation that you need the power band in such a drive. It goes up to gear 4 after a few seconds. I find that quite good actually. Not a problem with me.

yep, at D mode. i rev the car hard, let go of the accelerator, expecting the gear to upshift. But sometimes, the gear gets stuck at a particular gear (usually 3 or 4) and rpm stuck at about 3000rpm.

Here's how I guess the shift program works :

Accelerate hard = go into Sport mode, hold each gear longer

Let go of accelerator = slow down, prepare to corner, likely downshift. Hold gear prepare to downshift on the next blip of the driver's right foot.

No blip? = wait for next accelerator movement.

Still no blip = obviously not a hard driver = change to normal mode

See, took too long. The driver not the program.

Wah... long time never see you already.

You should come down to one of the meets some day, although the main problem is that they are held mostly at night.

hello,

I have the 4AT and while driving in D the gearbox stays in 3 always while cruising. It only moves to 4 when acceleration is very light and speed is over 60km/h. either way its best to drive this gearbox in M mode.

after monitoring my car, my guess is that it is not a technical fault. It is probably due to the tuning of the ECU.
