PI or MM???(SG)
gooday to all RX 8 Bros,
thinking to get RX8 (6MT). but dunno is it advisable to get from PI? as MM sells at 122k which compared to PI 108K. are all the specs same? sunroof, hps, bodykit, rims, player, leather seats, etc... can give the advise?

Depends what u want.
1. MM - peace in mind when it comes to warranty.... but can't install any serious mod, unless u r prepared to void your warranty.
2. PI - U can do anything you want to it, but warranty is limited to 1 or 2 years.

bro, you mean only MM has electric chair, moon roof(i thought its sunroof? correct me if i am wrong)
i am thinking whether is it worth to fork out the 10k plus for MM. so trying to weigh wat does the car come with except for the warranty.
Actually if u buy a PI car and spend extra money on all the features that u get from a MM, u will or maybe paying more (will never be less) for the PI car + extra MM features.
1. MM - Peace of mind for warranty, agree. Can't install serious mod coz will void warranty, disagree. There are many mods that will not void your warranty. Of course you cannot be so dumb as to drive into MM with all your serious mods that will oso lah.
2. PI - U can do anything you want to it, agree. BUT the reason is because warranty from majority of PIs is worth as much as my dog's doo doo. Only a handful of PIs will actually honour the warranty.
hi
If I had a chance to do it all over again, I will still go will MM. Personal experience with them have been quite good both in terms of accident claims/repairs and warranty claims. Blew my 13B in mid Dec and had it replace under warranty by early Jan, without much of a hassle, doubtful how many PI could have handled it in this way. Not to mention the time that they voluntarily change my engine mounts w/o even me having to tell them. Just my 2 cents worth.
Not accurate...

Not sure how my suspension oil leak and got it change w/o any hassle.
Thinking back, i suspect it's my fault as i ran over the curb in parking but no questinon asked and got it replaced within 1 week upon ordering
Interesting article from ST Online, I wonder if this will trigger off more regulations hmmm?

Open market values of parallel import cars significantly lower
PARALLEL-IMPORTED cars are attracting lower taxes than equivalent models brought in by authorised agents, with the difference sometimes being more than $10,000 per car.
Parallel imports now have much lower open market values (OMVs) - the approximate cost prices on which tax and duty of 130 per cent apply.
The Straits Times understands that Singapore Customs, which assesses OMVs, may review the way those of parallel imports are assessed.
It had previously said that OMVs 'can be different for different importers because of the difference in quantity purchased, difference in bargaining power, and other circumstances'.
This 'OMV anomaly' for equivalent car models can mean a difference of more than $10,000 in taxes, according to checks by The Straits Times.
Many car buyers now choose parallel imports because they are cheaper, and this has upset the authorised agents.
Currently, the gap in price between a parallel import and an equivalent model from an authorised agent can range from $1,000 for a small hatchback to $15,000 for a big seven-seater.

ADs are upset? Whats there to be upset? Lower their pricing and ppl will flock back to them. PIs are good. They are the balance to the scale.
Btw, I read that MM manage to stop the sale of RX8 to PIs. How true is this? Is this why the price of the MM RX8 has increase drastically?

I can agree with the dramatic increase. It was 108k at 1 point and now its 122k. Difference of 14k. when it was 108k COE was about 9k (not that 5k dip) so even correlating with COE increase which is 6-7k, there's an unexplained 7k increase. From the ST news article, looks lke the OMV of PI's cars going to be more rigorously checked and I wonder which is the PI that was reported where customs been getting ready to sweep.
i think besides the 7k there is also an OMV difference? so they may make even more. But its not only MM doing this. all the other ADs are the same. their profit per car is actually higher now than back in 2004/2005.
yup... I think their OMV for the type S was like 29k recently??? selling at 122k? the % profit is so high?
