Hi all
I have been lurking the forum for some time while compiling info on the 8, and you guys (and gals!) made my decission much easier. I ordered my black 8 one week ago, and yesterday I got it.
As a short background, I live in Spain, and have just overcame mid-life crisis, finally accepting that I prefer to ride/drive vehicles with revvy engines, rather than torquey but unreliable euro machinery. So I traded my Ducati 748 twin (virtual redline @ 10000 rpm) for a Suzuki GSXR600 (redline @ 16.000), and my Alfa Romeo 156 2.4 JTD (redline @ 5000 rpm) for an RX-8 (redline @ "if you are reading this, you already know"), and now I enjoy my dayly rides A LOT more.
Even during break-in, the car's smoothness and handling are awesome. I am eager to finish the break-in. Believe it or not, dealer says "don't go over 4.000 rpm for 3000 miles! I will.
BTW: they recommend synthetic from day 1. Manual does not say a letter about mineral...
Finally, for those members concerned by the RX-8 being a chick's car, my wife thinks the 8 looks in her rear-view mirrors as Penelope Pitstop's "Compact Pussycat" (from Wacky Races TV cartoon), probably due to the "fenders" and "eyes". Thank god I didn't get mine in pink.

Como estas? Congrats on your new 8. I too have a black 8. Its an unusual car in that it's so smooth that it feels like you are not driving a real car but a video console or an electric car. Another thing -- careful with the speedo. The car accelerated a lot quicker than you think due to the smoothness of the engine. Before you realise it, you are way over the legal limit esp in city driving. Enjoy!
Hasta leugo.

Hey all I'm new here. I picked up a Copper Red Shinka in May. Really awesome car! Looking to find out if there is a way to get the keyless credit card to autolock without having the dealer program it.

Hi, i'm new to the forum. I have some questions for you guys and girls. I am thinking of getting myself an RX8 6 speed auto from a parallel importer. Is there an RX8 specialist who can service the car while under warranty ? Do you know of any good workshops to recommend as well. Most importantly, does the car give you any problems ? Thanks !

I've got myself a copper red shinka II as well which was delivered to me in Aug. Really enjoy driving it after having driven big sedans previously...(2 mazda 929s and a Beemer). Initially the bumpy ride was disconcerting and quite uncomfortable but the roadholding, quickness and responsiveness are just great. It makes me feel as one with the car if you noe what I mean. In fact drove it up Genting on my 2nd day of ownership tearing up and down the steep slopes. FUN!
Will be visiting Monster Garage for some bodykit to 'enhance' the look. "Hey, even Miss Universe needs her makeup". 1 bummer tho...no original gps altho the catalog shows one. Wonder if Coupe07 can help fix it up same as the original model.?
Also wud like to remove the speed limiter set at 180kph safely without harming the electronics or software. Any idea how to do this?
