Lifted the bonnet without lowering the wiper. So wiper scratched the edge of the bonnet. About 2cm right on the side and it's bare metal now.

Bonnet is aluminium.

I believe its hardly visible, so maybe you should just leave it be?

Ya man. ALAMAK!! Dumbo thing lah.

Mugo, I didn't know its aluminium. No wonder the car is so light. lol. Now I can sleep better knowing it won't rust while it sits in the carpark. But no, since I've 'bullied' the car, I've got to get it fixed and get it back to its nice pristine shape! (actually, when I drive, I can see it so very distracting and heart-pain!!)

Cheap way is to get a touch-up paint pen. You will have to get the correct color code for your car. Should cost less than $10 at most accessory shops.

This happened to my old civic before and after that painful lesson, i am very cautious now.

Oh yes, if yours is from MM, you may be able to get them to touch it up for free.

Ok, I'm gonna go try MM to see if they'll touch up for free. By the way, when should the first servicing be done? HolyOne and I were discussin this and I know some people say after the first 1000km, but MM says it's after the 5000km. So should I go ahead and get it done early when I'm at 1500km thereabouts now.

entirely up to u..... recommended is 5000km. U can do it at 1000km like IZ, or 3000km or 4987km.... its all up to you. Mineral oil life span is ard 5000km, so that shld give u a rough estimate.

I will recommend to service at the first 1k. There will be some residue when running in the engine for the 1st 1k, so its actually good to service early.

Personally, i serviced at 1k and now at 3k. Maybe a bit kiasu, but i felt that instead of topping up, i might as well go for a servicing. And the engine oil was black when i made the switch further reinforcing my idea that constant servicing is good. I am using synthetic; no more debates or flaming. Read the main forum on engine oil and lastly, synthetic is my preference. Use mineral if you want but no flames please.

And a point to note that your warranty may be voided if you miss your servicing, not servicing the car with the authorised workshop or exceeding 50km when you service. You will have to read your warranty terms and conditions as it varis.

Hi guys,

Need some help on the locations for the regular servicing. My ride was formally serviced by Garage R, which is very far for me since I live in the West. Somemore heard some not very nice stuff about them, especially on insisting on the use of their own oil for servicing. Now looking for a good and reliable workshop that can service Renesis, somewhere West or Central. Any good recommendations?

Nope. Didnt get any name of workshops. And I haven't fixed mine yet. Been just a tad too busy during office hours. It's a real bummer that there are so many places that actually close in the evening... like Sim Lim
