Alright i closed my case... anyway i not a pro govt supporter... he lost my respect ever since he chose to cling into power when he ought to step down from politics gracefully.

Anyway tis is my political view but i dun wan to elaborate more cause tis forum is not related to politic

 

Sounds a lil geeky but I mod for a forum of 800+ Americans as a throwback to my gamer days in mmorpgs. Lets just say it aint easy.

Check out the site http://www.sturmgrenadier.com/invision/ and on the public forum you will see my nick "SwerveDaSmurf" as a mod. This group of gamers are all mature gamers but as the gaming community goes? There are lots and lots and lots of emo flying about.

So to combat that, we have an ironclad charter which you either follow or you can hit the road.

Now I aint suggesting that in our new forums we take the same draconian measures and fact is we have decided to switch forums due in part to us wanting more freedom of speech..however as much as I dislike the old man, we wont be here without him today.

But I guess my whole point of this convo is that maybe we could set some loose guidelines for the new forums which would not only help keep the conversations going down the road round safe topics and not taboo ones like the big 4 of politics, race, sex or religion for example.

It would also help stop a lot of he said, she saids in the future which would ultimately protect the mods. The mods job really is a thankless exercise and those whom you moderate will ultimately be really mad at you and accusations will fly left and right. I've been called a little kaiser, racist and every conceivable negative comment you could think of. But every single time the guidelines keeps both the mods in check but also gives you a basis to moderate on.

So there really wont be a basis for anyone to start complaining if they did start a political debate for example or raised up a ruckus on the forums with really tasteless "jokes".

Frankly a forum is just like any other business. You will need members to make it a success and to get your message across. All it takes is a couple of emo jackasses to stir up enough **** to make it a bad experience and just like that...you will lose members. But dont worry, I aint suggesting that we sanitise the forum all together lol. I love cursing and swearing all in the name of fun and have been cracking some pretty saucy jokes lately in my posts - but so long as I dont offend anyone right?

So Ivan / Jasper - if you guys want to have a look at our charter and/or take bits of it? Do let me know.
