Dear RXers ,

Does anyone know, if their basic RX8 came with remote controller for lock and unlock only or it does come with alarm as well ?

If the alarm (from the mazda brochure- and me-no japanese literacy) is separate and need to be added, can it be program into the original remote controller?

I saw a basic alarm model which cost something like 7000 yen in the mazda brochure. The shop guy told me that it can be integrated into the original remote but oh...well...just wanted to be double sure.

The alarm can be integrated into the original remote controller as I have the original factory alarm fr Mazda. Locking and unlocking is done as usual and the alarm indicator flashes once the car is armed using the remote controller. Haven't tried to see what the effect is like when the system is intruded though. Will test it tomorrow and let u know the outcome. Cheers!

 

If i am not wrong. the PI cars in singapore do not have immobilisers.
so does that mean i can install any aftermarket alarm system and the alarm remote will function to unarm and unlock the car with one press of the button??

The factory alarm works this way. U will still operate it with the usual remote controller. When the system is armed, there will a blinking light at the steering column visible fr the exterior. When intrusion occurs (ie the doors r not unlock by the remote controller, the light will start to blink very fast for the next 30 secs, then the horn will start sounding as a siren.

 

Yes u can have aftermarket alarm fitted in our 8s.
