JDM6MT vs 4AT Dyno Shootout
[http://rxreviews.wordpress.com]
What happens when you have 2 club guys with new rides and a lot of spare time? A Dyno shootout of course! Run at ST Powered just a few days ago, we’re pitting a stock, brand new JDM 6MT against a souped up JDM 4AT. We’ll also contrast a previous run done on a stock 4AT as baseline.
JDM 6MT: Mostly stock, HKS Hipermax II, Knight Sports ECU Remap
JDM 4AT: RE headers, Fujitsubo exhaust, HKS open pod, battery relocated, Cusco suspension and braces, etc etc
JDM 4AT baseline: Stock
THE RESULTS (crank):
JDM 6MT: 202.3 HP
JDM 4AT: 160.1 HP
JDM 4AT baseline: about 140 HP

HP results also at CRANK.... if u have to see horsepower at wheels, i tink the 4AT owners will cry.... they have a formula in their computer to calculate...

Its amazing how much loss auto transmission can contribute to a car's potential. But that didn't stop me from buying one bcos I know that I will not be tracking so often so buy 6MT also lppl. I will also be less worried with my wife driving a auto. And I save 20K for optional parts which I don't require.
But it is just a matter of time. Hopefully there will a compatible sequential or DSG transmission soon. And I'm sure you know how fast it can shift compared to manual.
I'm feel so blessed to drive an 8 everytime I look around me when I drive. Power is never enough, even if you've got 300 WHP.
Ps Coupe07, hope you can find the sequential gearbox. Sure can cheer up a lot of 4AT, and hopefully make a lot of money in the process.

Anyway, the ST Powered site says they have a 'new 4-wheel dyno', but I haven't been down there myself.

4wheel dyno, means can be used to dyno 4 wheel drive.....

in short, the results should present whp and the system can attempt to estimate crank hp (in order to compare with manufacturers' figures).

u check with owners of car, of cos say wheel... cos u can see ur wheel spinning on the roller.... but the fact is, the system gives u your hp that is on crank and that is a realistic figure...
as for why this why that.... i not so technical to answer...
ST says its crank, i take it as it is... their system can calculate whp, i oso take it as it is..... i did not go ask desmond soh "why ur system calculate crank hp when the wheel are spinning on the rollers"...... end of the day, we go there more for tuning using the dyno rather than gunning for hp figures.

4AT with full NA mods, spending 10k+++ .... only 140+++
Guys, nuff said - you want power, just go straight to FI, dun need to waste time on NA mods.
But it still can't beat the fun factor of slowly adding mods over time
