3 different instructors 3 laps 3 different experience
1st instr: "you can overtake if you want..." then... "hold, you are abit too fast at the apex/corner" cos i eat grass at turn 9 ba - keke
2nd instr: "go for the apex, use the whole wide of the track, no worries" hmm...dun really get him. So he say "can i take your car and show u" then... zoom zoom he show me what is meant by go for apex - wheels touch apex during turn. "this 8 is cool"
3nd instr (austin, drives a red Elise - LOTUS880): "your rx8 got good handling but you are braking too much at some apex/ turns. - no need to, i show u"
I hop into his elise and we go again... abt 8 laps on the track.
wow... he use little brake or heel-toe(2nd gear) at sharp turns then he zoom zoom zoom...
back to our pit, quick shower, and headed to NS highway...2nd link.

I had only had one lap on the elise. The driver is a friend of mine, and he power slide the car through turns 3 and 11. Helluva fun. Took him out for one session and over on the passenger side he said he can feel the car is well balanced. I was apprehensive on taking some corners, or even taking the racing line, but he stuck his hand out and held my steering. Only then I'll go "ooooh" haha
A friend of mine was at turn 6 and took snaps of cars passing by. Unfortunately not all came out right, but there is a nice pic of a grey 8 SG registration. PM me your email and I'll send it to you.

Had great fun out there buddy and thanks for organizing this trip. I must say with the instructors on board I learnt a lot more and pushed the car really hard. My car running on stock form and the only thing I have changed so far is the sway bar to the one from whiteline. Surprisingly even with the stock RE040 tyres and my car had already clocked 40000KM to with the same tyres I still managed to hit a max speed of 128km/h on bend 5 and bend 6 of Sepang (those who bothers to look at the speedo at this turn will know wat speed I am talking about). RX8 is truly remarkable in the corners and even the all 3 instructors were very impressed with the handling characteristics of our cars without modifications.
I think if I change to track specific tyres or at least some ADVAN tyres and harder suspension ... this car should be able to hit 135 - 140 KM/h on bend 5. (fingers crossed)
Oh ya once again I have proven our car (stock form) to be extremely reliable that even under extreme driving conditions .. it never fails or give up. My last instructors I had him for almost almost 9 laps even bitting into other groups session and on every lap the car was red lining and braking hard into corners and yet it did not show any signs of fatigue to its overall performance. A good 9 hard laps and I dun really think any "heavily mod cars" out there could withstand this sort of abuse to it.

4-Tooth - I couldnt agree more. I'm still raving about our car's ability on the track. Both my instructors said that they can feel, from the passenger side, that the balance of the car is perfect. And my car is stock, only had Advan AD07 tires and did my camber before yesterday. Excellent grip, bodyroll is ok (didnt notice much) but of course the front straight speed leaves much to be desired for. Meh, I'm not complaining
There was only one Ti Grey yesterday, so I guess it must be you Stephy88

Ya actually looking into it though. Must play with the budget a little bit so that won't eat grass for the month. Hee hee .... how about Bridgestone RE01R? Anyone in Sing has it or know where to get them ? I think they are slightly better overall compares to ADVAN Neova from Best Motoring review.

Sepang Track Day Post Evaluation
Pre Track
Thanks to Diablo - Amir for being at hand in organising our pre-track meet up at Dengkil for some refreshments before heading out to track. The Penang (Nothern) crew turned up with their wonderful cars. Some members from KL were also there for drinks. Amir made sure everything was on schedule by constantly updating us at the track. Thanks Amir.
@ Sepang Track
Ok here it got alittle tricky. Considering our group was the largest on track day, registration took a little longer. Also some miscommunication about drivers having to have wristbands. I sincerely apologise for that.
We were classified into group 1A. Many had the chance to have experienced drivers with them to assist with turns and signals. Each track session lasted approximately 20 minutes with 3 sessions in all. No major mishaps or accidents.
Many drivers had the oppurtunity to push their respective vehicles on track environment. We had an assortment of cars namely rx7's and Rx8's, not forgetting to mention as well Supra, Gtr 34, WRX's, AE86 and M3. After our track event the club witnessed the official launch of Racing For Charity organised by HPC. Lunch and refreshments were served (or rather, self service) The organisers went on to mention of the RE Group being the largest and thanked our friends from accross the causeway for being part of this charity event.
Everybody was very tired at this point of time and proceeded to call it a day. The Penang group left first heading towards The Curve and we escorted our Singaporean buddies to their hotels. I must add at this time, how professionally their convoys are done. I got back at 4.30 and went to sleep before meeting the rest of the singapore group for drinks later that night.
Post Track Party @ Telawi Street Bistro
Arrived at 10.00pm. Our friends from Singapore were too tired to join as they left Singapore at 3am the same day. Understandable. How do you guys look so fresh at the track? At the party we had the instructors and members talking bout the day. We had Joewe and his lovely wife, Glen and wife, Zal and GF and my wife and me representing the RE club. Many instructors commented on how well the RX8 handled on track. We were also asked to join in the next track event to use what we;ve experienced and push our cars harder. The party ended at 2am.
Acknowledgements
I thank each and every member that supported our trackday, friends from Penang, Singapore and KL. This event would not have been possible without your kind support. The enthusiasm from you guys was so great that even some of the instructors at the party mentioned it. Above all we had fun and we did it the the name of charity.
If at all you have any comments that will help to make our future track day better please do let me know. I hope to see you guys soon and this time we'll make it better!!
