Sealing off the intake will not affect the car system at all. Did this to my old Audi. Air Recirculation wont block the outer air from reaching the cabin entirely. Moreover, people seldom look after or even forgot the existence of aircon filter (maybe only me :p). In the end, the filter is so dirty and you will be wandering what u are breathing in for for past few years. Just my experience.

Cheers

280km? u kidding or what? Is yours an auto like mine? Well, I actually set a new record last week and managed to get 360km b4 the low fuel light lit up. I did mainly highway driving. I usually get around 330km when the light comes on. Running on SPC95.

I always smell the burning smell if the aircon is not recycling the gas(drawing air from outside). So I just press the button and the smell is gone.

If fuel consumption is really a big issue, try not to step so hard. Ever tried shifting at 2k? I did and can get 8plus km each time. But not much fun

fuel light will light up roughly just before 270 km and i can travel about 30 click more- max!

mine is manual and i tot it should save fuel

Actually on the topic of the aircon, I got a question. You know how there's an option for recycled air or intake air. I noticed if I turn on the auto climate control and put to XX degrees, sometimes, my air intake will change from recycled air to intake air from outside. Is this normal?

wheew....thanks for telling me otherwise i would die if there's a prob with my ecu. haa.. :p

funny thing about ur fuel comsumption, u mentioned v-power's FC is higher than shell 98. i use 98 too and i too think the FC is not bad. but just saw a post by chaotichris in mcs that says her FC for v-power is better than 98.

tat's the thing bout FC, everyone seems to have different experiences. FC = Fully Confused. hahaa.....

I have changed my air-con filter. My old one was like totally wasted, brown and sand particles n stuff...(my mileage is high)

I got mine from Mcwell, fit the mazda6 one, cuz same size and they didnt bring in 8's.

Feels good to be breathing well again Sum taiwan brand i think, not cheap too....

Hard to explain.

Went to sepang for tracking and on the way back stopped at JB for petrol. Usually a full tank only gets lasts me for 4 days but including the night i pumped in malaysia it lasted me 6 days. (i didnt "chao kuan" cause i drove all of the 6 days and still had to fetch my grandparents to airport from clementi)

I am all lost. ???

Bro....something not quite right here if only getting 240 km with Vpower and still getting burning smell after 6k. Yer a/c filter should still be clean, give it a check. By comparison, I have an MM 8 and I've never had the burning smell and I get on average 340 km with Vpower....and I shift regularly in the 4k to 6k range (higher depending on where I am ). Take it back to MM and demand that they run a full diagnostic on the engine.

Let's stick to the topic at hand... Canna, that kind of mileage is ridiculously low considering that you tried taking it easy on the gas pedal. Mine is also MM and I'm getting a minimum of 400+km per tank of Esso 5000. Think you really need to go MM and get them to do a thorough check. Maybe it's related to the smell? I remember one of my friends had a foul smelling engine once, apparently an animal crawled up in there and died. :p

it not ridiculous... its super duper ridiculous... havin to pump every 4 days is crazy man!!!!

i highlighted to the service advisor last week and he said that the mechanics will do a thorough retuning during servicing and he told me to try it for 2 weeks first...
well my first tank after servicing gave me 300
so thats an improvement of 20...
today just pump second tank
will see how man
