Gage Top Panel - Integrated

Hello

I have done a design out for the Gage Top Panel . Dimensions are taken from the PROSPORT Gage (are most gages dimensions similar by the way?). Also it will exactly replace the existing top panel, meaning it will have all the legs to fit into the slots. But making one is really costly from what i have found out.

Design pics will be posted here within a day or two after i have shrunk the images.

Thanks

This one is not a full top panel but alot of ppl are using it. It is cheap but well worth the money.

RE Amemiya, Autoexe, FEED can be sourced from MG.
Cheaper replicas can be sourced from other places.
Depends on what you want and your budget.

Another way is to get a 1-DIN top bracket, and buy the DEFI or Mazdaspeed 1-DIN 3-in-one gauge set

hmm... So there are some out there besides the mazdaspeed, some of them do look good. Thank you for the links.

But i didnt know this initially and I badly want to have an integrated one after seeing the 350Z, so have proceeded to get a personalised design out.

Have yet to iron out all the design flaws. Once done and have adjusted the angles I will soon be prototyping it to see how well it fits into the existing slots. But the prototyping will be costly as hell!

Will post the design pics next, welcome any suggestion from the Bros to improve the design.

i like people who try to make things happen.....so i kinda support your efforts in making this work, however for this scenerio, what you are trying to produce is just a copy of the RE pod (could be a good copy....could be a bad copy...depends on your fabrication skills)....save the effort la.....don't make your life difficult.

this is how the RE pod looks like installed.....looks like 'your' design right.

Looks great! didnt know it has been out this long. How much did it cost, just the panel with/without installation. Or must it come including the Defi gages?

Mandotcom

I was reading your thread the last time, but it did not have a conclusion.

So is the panel almost ready? It will replace the existing panel? PM me the cost if possible. Been looking for this item for some time. Didnt really like those that are screw on, inserted etc.

FlyingAce, did you use 3DSMax for the drawing? That's nice, but looks like most panel out in the market. How about trying to integrate a single DIN slot and 3 gauges together?

Airspeed, what exactly do you mean? where would the Single DIN be? in front of the gages? Below the gages?

It should not be a problem to draw it, the biggest problem are the fastening legs under the panel.

What would the 1-DIN be used for by the way?

Hi FlyingAce,

I have make 2pcs..

1st moulded panel failed on fitment problems

2nd panel done, pass to "hellangel" to try out the fitment but he is Africa now.

I can finished this panel in either fiberglass or carbon fiber, BUT this material cant achive the fine details (for the screws and clips area) like the original. So to install, I am trying to use silicon instead of the original screwed on.

If you are interested, we can see how to improve on the fitment.

Cheers!

Yup, move the gauges up towards the windshield a bit and the single DIN would be in between the gauges and the opening for the LCD display.
The single DIN ould be for an aftermarket headunit or a flip out LCD headunit.

Airspeed, i will see what i can do. Will do it when i have some time. But the gauges would be on a higher level to fit in the single DIN. Will probably be sitting on top of the Single DIN partially at least.

MDC, so the panel is hand-molded using Fiberglass or CF?

I have enlisted the help of a friend to get the legs done based on the original panel, so that it will fit into the clip-on slots. It will be put into the drawing so i can do the prototype.

Since you already have a sample and have been working on it for some time, it will be helpful to improve on your product.
