F1 In Singapore !

Juz read an article from reliable source F1 Live.com

Singapore Tourism Board is studying the feasibility of holding F1 races in our small island stating cost factor as being very important. I tink that idiot who is at the helm of tis STB muz hav hav been born of yester years.
Bernie Eccleston the boss of F1 is in favour too ! Our neighbour complain tat it will oni cannibalise the races over there n here !
Ain't it obvious ! M boleh ! S Tak boleh ! Apa ini ???

Wif so many corporate offices here, how not to be a money making event ? Can some1 wake the idiot in STB up ! If he tinks he cannot decide for Singapore at least ask the citizen lah, we pay taxes so we can decide too !!

I really tink he is not cut for the job !

No wonder people are giving SG a miss.

Same for the LTA. Spend $200k to route a road through a tree instead of around it. Build a ill-designedbarrier at the end of the overpass at tampines which cause a cyclist to be paralysed.

Relax, my friend, the news covering STB's comments is not entirely negative. If the supremo, Bernie, is in favour it's a good first step. STB's comments are the usual prudent stuff. To realise the circuit and holding F1 in SIN is both a biz and recreational decision. The latter alone is not enough.

Comments from across the Causeway is typical of the political bitching that has been around for decades now. They spent a substantial sum in the Sepang Circuit and they are not going to keep quiet when an imminent threat is looming. They think SIN F1 will "eat" into their spectatorship. I don't think so.

I think it will be a bonus for F1 followers as 2 live events are available within 350km and hopefully within a week.

MM had admitted that his dismissal of F1 proposals in SIN 10 years ago was probably a mistake with the wisdom of hindsight. How do you think the STB head will react?

I'm more inclined to think that the govt should get involved or subsidise the project; and instead of a mickey-mouse track at Tuas offer a 9-hole golf course to be turned into a proper world class F1 circuit.

This talk of a mickey mouse track reminds me of a ride in Disneyland. Itself is a few times bigger than any go-kart track we have in SG.

Hi guys,

Fortunately and"Unfortunately", Bernie doesn't have a full say anymore for where F1 should be allowed or not allowed to be held.

As for F1 in S'pore, not going to happen anymore, we can dream on. We were offered the opportunity about 5 years ago, but our dumb *** govt decided to not take it up.

Now that Malaysia's got it, high chance we won't be having it anymore. We deserve not to have it anyway........

Guess nowadays our S'pore Govt abit slow in planning for the future, haha

More people will be concerned about lift upgrading than the track.

80% of people live in flats and not all have lifts. Comparably, About 1 in 11 (I think i read it in a Time magazine publication) drive cars and i doubt all is for motorsports.

I was to go to the F1 race but could not leave due to family commitment. But my friend did go and spent about S$500. Thats for 1 person on budget.

I wonder how much money we lost to My 2 weeks ago...
