my 8 is AT

the engine light has suddenly came on when I was starting up the engine,

can start up engine and rev,

however cannot rev and accelerated as usual, it rev up to 2000 and drop back - now only able to run up to 20 km/h

any quick check and fix recommended, need urgent assistances !

Hi. I had exactly the same problem as what U mentioned in your post way back on Aug 2004. The PI's workshop couldn't do anything about it and they had to send the entire ECU to Japan to have it replaced.

It's definitely the ECU's problem bcos the car works fine when they took an ECU from another car and fitted it on mine. The fix took about 2 weeks in all and nothing has happened since then.

i really hope if this is only ECU problems ! but not dead engine !

I had the ECU refreshed by a tuner earlier and I have sent an email to them to enquire if this happened sometimes

 

tis no big problem, i experience it when i went pasir gudang, check engine light appear at 160km/hr, i heck care & continue revving.after few rounds the car suddenly stall & after restart the car cannot drive more than 20km/hr, & not more than 80km/hr at sixth gear. i drive slowly back to mazda & had it fix, its the ecu error & nothing serious.
buy ur 8 from agent instead of Pi

 

the problem is fixed.

my ECU is ok and found it was a sensor error turned the machine to "safe mode" -cannot rev over 2000.
