It is weird thou how the ecu would throw a ign CEL fault. I think it is mazda's fault for that. The ecu runs into everything- ABS, EBD, TCS, engine systems. Some faults are bound to come up like that.

If u ask me, 8 is a piece of crap. If not for the looks, i'd have driven mine into singapore river long time ago liao......

My ignition coil went out today, and i am in banladesh and there are like 15 RX8's in the country , so have to wait for "a while" i get my replacement parts. my car ran 17000km and its only been 18 months since i bought it, but i think the heat in bangladesh coupled with the rotary engine heat = problem ...isnt this why rx8 is not available in the middle east market?

My CEL came back today. Check with the Scananalyser and pull fault code P0354, seems like the ignition coil is going

 

My friend and i have the same irritating problem...... Just change it......
