Boot open warning light?
Hi All,
I just noticed that if the boot is open, there is no warning light on the instrument panel. Other cars I've driven will light up the cabin lights or the door open light if the boot is not shut, but that isn't the case for our cars? Can anyone confirm this?

The cabin light would only light up if it is a 5-door car or 3 door car(meaning that the boot is connected to the cabin and thus counted as a door). But that isn't the case for the rx8. But you can easily install a light in the cabin to light up when the boot is open. Cable can run along the audio cables.

Correct, no boot open warning light 
. Only indication here in the US where the car comes standard with a theft alarm is that if the boot is open, then blinkers don't flash as normal to indicate the alarm is armed.

Think they are worried that the boot is not closed properly. Like I said, just install a LED or something to warn you. Not much of a hassle. Can also wire it to make it a door so that door open and cabin light will be switched on if boot is open. Maybe when I'm free I'll do it and post the steps.

Hi Manwe, do post the steps or PM me if you ever do the boot-open light-in-the-cabin thingy bcos I had driven on at least 2 occasions where I forgot to close the boot after opening either by mistake or after removing things from it.

I have installed an alarm system with voice module, retaining the original MM Remote. In the event that my boot is not closed "properly", it will speak in Japanese that the boot is not locked/closed after you have armed the car.

actually it is very easy. just have to pull the wires over. but i have to open it up and take pic for you to see step by step. now i am thankful of my training as electrical engineer. comes in useful sometimes
