Here is what a Legacy GT owner has to say about the RX8. Any encounters with Legacy GTs from this forum??

Yea, the Maserati part was a little hard to believe.

But I guess it is possible for the legacy GT to beat an RX8 on the road. 0-100 kmh timing for the Legacy GT is about 6.6 secs. Plus the fact that our RX8 has a lot of wheel spin when launching (unless we do something about the tyres or rear strut), and the GT is an auto, so minus human factor for gear shift etc, so it is possible for them to get ahead by a margin. I did try to time my 0-100 for the 8 on several occasions and the best I got was 6.8 s. Most timings were above 7 sec. But on the track, I think the 8 will have a better advantage.

But still, what he said about the 8 was a little overboard. After all, we didn't buy the 8 for brute performance. If we wanted, we could have bought the STI which is a good $23,000 cheaper and spend the rest on mods :p

Not too sure what he wanted to achieve by his posting.

His Legacy GT 'better' than those cars he mentioned?
His driving skills better than the drivers in those car he mentioned?

Conclusion we can draw is if he 'drew blood' on the other car, so be it. U are not sure if the other driver are 'old man' or '****-eye driver'.
we didn't know if the 8 is an auto, E or S. We do not know under what condition (so many variables) he win (hahaha this is the term he use). So naive and laughable.

He can win anyday against me. I don't even want to play with him.
He can tell the world his 'win' over all the exotic cars. So can the driver of the Hyundai accent that overtook me this evening.

We buy the 8 to enjoy the ride/car, not to 'win' against other drivers (clowns). He missed the point altogether.

(If I own a Ferrari or Maserati, I will not even play with this little bird haha).

haha, no offence sgrenesis. Was referring to stock 8 in which wheel hop is notoriously present. So how have you negated the wheel hop, care to share?

Still wouldn't matter if he could beat the cars in a race... those other cars still look better, and still cost WAY more than that person could afford. Think about it, if you could own a Ferrari, why the hell would you want to buy a Legacy GT?

Also, maybe the Ferrari owner wanted to simply cruise and let all the other people look at his expensive car? Hell, if I owned a Ferrari I would drive slow enough that everyone gets a look at it and wishes they didn't have to drive a.... Legacy GT :P

Btw, BL4 are TC, where our 8 are NA ... so, can really compare, is like taking a fighter jet compete with a private jet :p

I have long given up on comparing... it's a childish and immature behavior born out of insecurity. We buy the 8 for it's style and performance, not to race against Legacy GTs or any other car for that matter. If his stock GT so "ay gan" and he likes to compare apples to oranges so much, then let him race against the Laser Gun and see who is faster. Bet he won't be so cocky after he lose his licence.

In principle I agree with you sg, but you have to admit that cars breed testosterone in guys and therefore our 8 will always be the bane of comparison to other cars given we feel a certain amount of pride with our purchase. I wouldn't say that comparisons are an insecurity then, I'd say vanity Hell, I love my 8 and don't anybody try to challenge that

Comparisons, challenges,... it just never ends. Since you know that your 8 will always be compared to and challenged, why even be bothered by it? IMHO, I bought MY 8 for MY enjoyment. I do/add whatever I like to my 8 because I want to enjoy it, not because I want my 8 to be better than some other dude's ride. My 2c.

Wagon is one of the Legacy GT model.
Their yummy version is the Legacy GTB (manual) that is available in Japan. S'pore got only their auto (septronic??) version.

i think stock rx8 is good enough to beat any cars especially those we met in high ways.. cos i ever beat a REX , DC5 , even STi on aye. i notice every time we change gear at 9.5k rpm it drops till 7k only..especially our 4th gear can do up to 193km/h i always beat them badly at 4th gear. i even tried to rev my 5th gear till 9.5k rpm which can hit 232km/h. SO WATS LEGACY?!! u think he wanna smell rx8 fart oso not easy. :p

Just wondering if you r the owner of the black Lagacy who was turning right from Siglap Road to Upper East Coast Road last month to chase me when you spotted me going at ard 60km/h? Just want to let you know that you are a moron for doing what you did, going at least 90km/h on the busy stretch of road just to be ahead of me, only to turn into the Shell station immediately after overtaking me. I was the one who glared at you while you were at the pump. N if your hearing is sharp enuf, you would have heard me mouthing "*******" when i walked past you. was once kena jio by a corolla, when my 8 was still running in...... keep pushing my backside then keep switching lanes....... after dat speed off at easily more than 160km/h, hoping for me to catch him........ if really want to chiet, he wun even be able to see my tail lights...... chey... even a corolla wants to chiet....
