Basic Track Driving Course 15th/16th April '06 (Pasir Gudang)

Hi, I came across this 1 day track course at Pasir Gudang advertised in Wheels Asia (I think), the issue with the new WRX STi.

This is a little late notice, and I believe entries are closing REAL SOON but there are still vacancies and I just signed up, going to pay for the course and collect course notes tomorrow. The cost is $227.

Anyone else already signed up or interested in joining? I'm going on sunday.

Unfortunately this event is partially sponsored by Mazda, and thus no other cool cars, and PIs not allowed. Hope I won't be chiet by Mazda3's.

Course comes with certificate, which I think may be necessary to take the Advanced Track courses at Sepang, etc.

Oops, forgot to include phone number... the number to call is 62428281, ask for Wendy.

i've been keeping tabs on the forum actually, and would like to do so sometime... but as yet, i haven't bought a walkie talkie. about the walkie, will any brand other than the one discussed online do? or will the preset frequencies be incompatible and thus unusable with u guys?

would suggest to get motorola brand, because of the interference code. not too sure whether other brand got or not. any model within motorola should be alright.

It started off with a short one hour lecture. Basically to reinstate some of the good driving habit, where most of us forgot the day we got our license ;p Most important point is the hand placement. Idea is not to cross your hand when turning the steering wheel, so that in the event of airbag activation, your hands still in good shape. Hence they encouage the push-pull technique.

Next is the emergency braking on both dry & wet road, with evasion as well.

Guess the most interesting is the oversteer exercise. Where our car is put into a oversteer condition, & we learn to recognise & correct it. ==> lots of burn tyres

Finally we get to drive around the track, & try to put some theory into good use.

In conclusion, this course will not teach you to be a fast driver, but rather a safe & happy one instead. IMHO, try to attend if possible.

cheers.

Xman, sorry I had to scratch on sunday morning itself. as i was scheduled to go for surgery on monday (i just got discharged) i realised had too many things to settle and no choice have to forfeit the course and waste the money. would've really liked to be there, from what you've said, think it would've been a valuable experience
