Anyone selling your auto RX8? Please PM me, thanks.
Would like to share my experience
Originally I would like to buy a 2nd Rx8 too. but after some calcultion
I decided that its still more worth it to buy a new one.
1) Buyer have to pay a transfer fee of around $2000++
2) 2nd hand interest rate is 3.125% (compare to new car is 2.5%)
If u loan an amount of $100K for 7yrs the interest u lose will be
(3.125%-2.5%) x $100K x 7yrs = $4375
3) it would be more difficult to sell the car as u are the 2nd owner(not a big problem)
Total lost if u buy a 2nd hand Rx8 at $100K will be $2K + $4375 = $6375
-----------------------------------------------------------------
For those who bought their 5MT/4AT Rx8 at $115K and selling at $100k after 1yr
the buyer actually save only
$115K - $100K - $6375 = $8625
$8625 divide by 12 mths = $718 per mth
So u decide would it be better to buy a new or used one?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
For those selling at $108
the buyer only save $115K - $108K - $6375 = $625
Save only $625, Clearly I do not think that any one would buy a used car just to save $628.

To share my experience: Buying used things (whether car, hi fi etc in my case used hi fi equipments) takes a lot of effort and patience to get the right one. If u need it fast, don't buy used cos normally good deals don't come when u need it.
1. U have to do ur homework. Take car for example. Which month has the lower COE? How abt OMV? A newer car can be cheaper than an older car becos the COE dropped a fair bit for example.
2. Just calculating is simple, having the patience to wait is not. If u have the time and in no hurry, u will find there are rare good deals but it may come 1 yr from now hahaha.
Just grabbing/trying tog rab the first one available on classified ad is no no. U will find it is better to buy new as in your analysis.
cheers

My 8 is my first NEW car. Althought a new car commands a slight premium, but I have absolutely no regrets. At least I have piece of mind that I'm not inheriting a problem car from the previous owner and also a fresh warranty. Sure every car has it's flaws and I'm sure owners have their gripes, but by and large the 8 is still a wonderful car and addictively exciting to drive. By lowering the PARF rebate, the garment is "encouraging" us to keep our cars for the full 10 years. I believe the 8 is a car well worth keeping for 10 years or more, but I'm sure it's not a view that everyone shares. So Anlee, if you think you like the RX-8 enough to keep it for a long time, the advice is to buy it new. If not, then wait for a good deal like what EBS said.
