Air Filter - changing procedure

as per the topic, i read the User's Manual to have a look at the air filter but had difficulty opening the filter cover. something seem to be blocking the way.

as per the manual the instructions (summarised) were
1. release the clips securing the box
2. unclip the electric connection
3. lift the lid
4. change the air filter
5. secure in reverse or of step 1-4

i did just that put stil can lift the air filter lid entirely. i can only lift the lid up to about 2cm. not sure what is blocking the way.
anyone has the same problem?

its quite a pain to remove. you need to loosen the round metal ring clip on the air box side. then push back the box so that the front 2 ***** disengage from the slot. lift the front of the box up and then remove the rubber hose from the airbox. Be sure not to over stretch the other eletrical and tube connections. then unclip the 2 clips and remove the filter.

Although it is possible to use some force to open the lid and squeeze the air filter out, I feel it is worthwhile and less strenuous to remove the entire air intake box. Can remove the filter with ease after that and can clear out all the 'stuff' inside too.

I had the tech at the dealer show me recently. Simple.............
1. Grab the back of the air box and pull straight up to release the two rubber grommets in the bottom of the box.
2. Push the complete air box toward the back of the car to release the air inlet tube from the frame.
3. Open the box.
4. Install is the reverse of above steps.

takes about 5 seconds.........................
