Advice for first 30 days

That's good. Think I'll just break-in the engine with Mazda (mineral) oil for the first few thousand km's. Tender loving care for the early months is just par for the course I guess. Next up will be to decide on polish!

Woohoo... got my Vred last Friday!
Been driving it around the past few days and I love it! It's one thing to test drive it, but another to take it all over the island, through highways and narrow winding roads, traffic jams and free roads, sunshine and rain. It's just so fun!!! :p
Just done with my first full tank of gas and just that much closer to running in the engine. Looking forward to the day when I can hit that 8.5k beeper

btw, i'm just done with my 1st tank of gas and topped up. Curious about how much further can I go when the fuel light comes on though. 30-40km?

Rotary engines burn oil... that's an inherent design of the rotary engine. It doesn't matter what transmission you have. However, normal driving should not burn excessive amounts of engine oil. Hard driving might burn a tad more so check your oil levels often. Mazda recommends a check every 2 tankfuls of petrol. I think that's overkill, but check it at least once a month and more often if you have your right foot is made of lead.

Kukumalu... ur nick really quite.. erm... kuku. :p j/k Kino selling for around $50+ to $60 I believe. Last I heard still a couple of copies available there. If out of stock, then gotta ask them to order in. I might be able to buy it cheaper in Japan (provided got stock) next month. Think it's around $30+ there. Beware hor... it's very poisonous, not for the faint hearted.

Thanks hor sqflyer.... yes, it's very kuku, but what to do? started with the nick and didn't think i'd end up actually buying an RX8. So now, how to change name?! Nebermind lah, car cool can already :D
Also thanks for the offer. See how... if I manage to tahan and control my curiousity till next month, then will trouble you to get. If not, then it sounds like I am making a trip down to kino tomo. haha.

Like I said when I joined a meet-up at Kallang a few weeks ago, I really like the look of the stock. The only thing I would like to add at this point is the side skirts from MM, ya.. the short one... but oh heck, what's the point without the front and the back? So I'm leaving it just the way it is for now. Hey, am I the only person who loves the foglamps and likes the front to be black?
Anyway, all that is before I flip the first page of the "bible". :p Just came back home from Kino and it was down to ONE COPY! So mai-tu-liao, have it nicely wrapped in my arms now.
Ready... Set.... GO!

Hey there, I figured that since I've had my car for almost 30 days now, it's time for an update Not that I think anyone is asking for one. haha.
1. It really wasn't that hard keeping that car under 4,000 rpm. Ya, it wants to run more and faster, but I'm a bit surprised with the amount of torque even a low rpm. With all the talk about RX8 torque being low and flat, I was expecting more of a "can't outrun a kangoo" kind of acceleration. But as I'm sure everyone already knows, this baby really can pull...
2. If there's one thing you find out quickly about the car is that its HOT. Yeah baby!! Hot hot hot! Oh, I'm talking about the heat of course. And sometime last week, I was cruising along the road when a pink plastic bag (the kind you get from wet market) flies across the road and basically being sandwiched between a bus and an eager motocyclist, I had no choice but to run over it. I looked in the rear view mirror when I passed and was disturbed when I didn't see if fly out under the car. Finally when I got home and checked, sure enough, the bag had melted and fuzed itself to the undercarriage. Took me quite a while to get rid of it (without damaging anything by yanking too hard) but the lesson learnt is to avoid plastic bags!!
3. Ok, this is confirmed the dumbest thing I did today. I lifted my bonnet without taking down my wipers. SCCREACHH!! Ouch... you guess it! I scrapped off the paint on the edge of the bonnet where it contacted the wiper. Got me depressed!! but I'm sort of over it by now. So guys, where can I get the paint touched up? I can see the bare metal!! So just a word of warning to everyone to avoid the same dumb mistake. Duh!
Ok, that's it for now. Now to wait till I pass the 2000km mark before I rev a bit more.
Cheers.
