I've recently collected my new 8 (6AT) for less than a week..... Really happy with my new toy except that there is a small issue and would like to hear from all you experience 8 owners.....

The problem goes like that.....

I've got a habit (just like everyone else I reckon...) to turn on my ignition to on and wait till the airbag light goes off before I crank start my engine.

But, I found out when I do that, there is time I couldn't start my engine. 2 days ago, i realised where the problem lies. When I turn on the ignition and wait till the airbag light goes off, the engine light starts to blink. During the blinking of the engine light, there is no way i can start the engine. Hence, the only way to do it is to first turn on the ignition, wait till the engine light finished blinking and crank start the engine.....that way, the engine starts right perfect without a single problem.

Question is, is the blinking of the engine light a safety feature or a fault??? Also found out that it does not happen to the other model......

i don't have such problem on my 6MT, even my friend's 4AT, maybe u should check with mazda.

 

mine is 4AT and do not observe this problem.
anyway, you do not have to do that.the airbag light will go off even if u crank before that.

 

My 6AT alsodun have this problem, coz i put in key, turn crank and go.

 

Have the same habit (in fact a practice I have for my other car- to avoid damaging the fuel pump).. No such problem leh. 4AT.

i got my 6At 2 weeks ago. No such problem on my side.

 

Do check your manual.... blinking of engine light is a major problem.... get your ride diagnosed......

 

Just met up with another 6AT owner and tried it on his ride and same situation le........

For those who owns a 6AT, please try to turn your ignition to "ON" and watch you engine light for the next 1-2mins before you crank start, the engine light should blink for about 7 times.......

This is worrying.....workshop wont open till coming monday man..............

 

This dont happen to 6MT, 4AT and 5MT....................only 6AT comes with this "Feature" I reckon..........

For those that do the key in turn and go action, you will not notice it as the blinking of the engine light comes on only after 10 over to 20 seconds later......

 

HI, My 6AT is the same too, but I normally wait till the light stop blinking ( 8 blinks )then i crank off. I supposed it is normal...engine checking lights.

 

I've only started to looking around recently. This 6AT model, how new is it or has it been around last year? Would like to know about its characteristics before embarking on a serious purchase process with the PI.
