210bhp

Hi,

Need some help from some Japanese frds. I understand that Japan has the 210bhp version of the RX8. Do you guys happen to know the performance of the car? Went to a Japanese Importer in S'pore and he told me that the 210 RX8 is actually a tinny bit faster that the 250 in terms of pickup. He even showed me the mag to proved. Dun understand it cos it's all in japanese. Pls give some advise as I'm going to sign on the dotted line very soon....infact tomorrow - 25/7/03.

All comments are welcome. Hope to join this BIG family soon.

I think East Moon has the 210ps 5 speed?

Pickup may be quicker as the 210ps car has more torque and at lower revs than the 250ps version.

It has a much lower rev limit and lower overall power, but it may be an easier daily drive.

Thks for the reply. Is there a way which 210 owners could do to bring there cars up to 250 or maybe higher? (not SC or TC pls). Wonder if it has anything to do with the ECU? Eniwae, I'll more or less settle for the 210 pearl white.

Btw, do you know if I can order sunroof as an option for the 210bhp?

Many thks......

There are huge differences between the 210 and 250ps engines (an extra port on each rotor, a whole secondary air intake system, strengthened internal parts etc). not to mention different suspension ,brakes and gearbox.

Its not a realistic option to turn the 210 into a 250.

You'll probably be able to do something but not turn into a 250ps as mazda sell - wouldnt be worth it, as the price differnce (at least here in UK) isnt much.

My RX-8 is 210ps 5MT.

I drive on crowded road of Tokyo. (city 90% Highway 10% )
210hp was enough to enjoy the acceleration from a stop to 80km, for me.
If it is not a long long straight line road, I think that the difference between 210ps and 250ps cannot be found.
And the difference in fuel milege is not reported.

I bought the wheel with the difference.
I am sure that it was good chooses.

Thanks
EAST MOON

Hey Guys,

Thks for ur feedbacks. I wun be exactly wanting to tune it to a 250hp 8. Haha.....that was juz a thought.

Eniwae i tink i'm more or less settled on the 210. Will be going down to the dealer tomorrow to commit. Hope it's a gd choice, man. S'pore roads are not very much different from roads in the land of the rising sun. No long stretches of roads for me to run, so 210 shd satisfy me.

Juz 1 thing thought, do you know if the gear **** for the 210 same as the 250hp? If i wanna change it to 18", can i take the offset from the 250hp 8?

Thks again......hope to be able to post some pics of my OWN RX8 soon....

Congratulations, SingRX8! What colour are you going to choose?
Which parallel importer are you buying from?

The gear **** for the 210 bhp is the same as the 250 bhp version. EZ Imports has a red 210bhp version on display, if you are keen on seeing this version in real life.

Actually, theres probably not much diff in performance for day to day driving, especially when you will have a bit more torque!

Anyway, I booked mine from Garage R. The car just got in last night, and am now waiting for customs clearance and OMV approval! :D Getting vvvveeerrryyy excited now! :D

For me, I think the 210bhp is pretty sufficient for the roads of Singapore as well. Especially when I'm not gonna race it.

But I'm too mesmerized by the 2 tone leather in the interior that I'll have to take the 250bhp in times to come as the 2 tone ain't available on the 210bhp.
Has any of you seen the 2 tone yet? Kindly point me one if you did come across in any of the PIs, thanks.

Fab 8, r u getting the 2 tone interiors?

Yep, will be getting the red/black leather with mine.

Garage R has a type S with the black/tan interior in their showroom. Go and check it out at 210 Tagore Lane!
