18" Tires and Suspension

Heard from some prominent mechanic that 18" tires and rims installed on the 8 will have detrimental effects on the car itself. Not recommended.

Within a yr, the suspension will suffer heavy damage.

Would like to know if you guys have experience such problems or the mechanic is bsing me.

Thanks

Standard AT's come with 16" I believe unless the performance package(GT) and then 18". All MT's come with 18". I think he's full of crap, but assuming you have an standard AT, you might want to check just a wee bit further into putting 18" on it. You may want or have to change some suspension parts. However.........I now see you are in Singapore........so all bets are off, as I'm not sure what country your car is spec'd for? Japan? Malaysia? Indo? Just not sure.

what exactly about 18" wheels will cause problems? You can fit up to 20" in there.

Well, my case is alil complicated. Apparantly, there is only 1 car in stock in the whole market right now and most of the PI that i have spoken to are taking the car from 1 big PI and that is IF the big PI wanna sell them at all.

Nothing wrong with that if u think abt it, but i just dont like the fact that they are trying to mislead consumers saying ' i have the stock in the warehouse, the car is in the port or i can get you the car within 7 days'. Just imagine if the big PI decided not to sell the car to other PI for whatever reasons, we will be screwed big time.

Most of the PI quoted me very similar price and freebies so to me its no big difference but what im looking for is the honestly and not tell me 1 thing on the phone and when i go down to the shop, i see lots of added clauses and fees comin in. Warranty can change from 3 yrs to 1 yr, indash mp3 become no mp3 or top up 400, brand of solar film can change from 3M to no brand, 1% of loan amount must be paid to them as admin fee and etc.

Anyway i agreed with the bros here that getting from a PI is a pain but no choice, im doin auto.

Ill be receiving the car by mid july, so hopefully there will be no more screws up. Looking forward to meeting up with u guys.

Cheers

shops 'help'? its all a business transaction. not happy too bad lor. thats business. since there is money to be made by them, either they suck it up or quit the business. a consumer has every right to shop around. why cant we play tricks on PIs since they pull stunts on us all the time.

lol. mkl bro. Chill it man. I mean 100k is quite abit of money and commitment, so naturally most ppl will have to shop ard. Its just that i dont have alot of confidence in PIs in general.

Of course there are good ones and bad apples, but ive seen and heard too many underhand means and flipping of stories till im tired.

The conclusion i came up with after this ordeal is that, most PI's price will be similar. The apparant difference in price is due to the stunts they will pull on you. Like 1 bid guranteed coe, they will required 1 - 2k more. After that they will say the car is in the port and will take close to 4-5 weeks for delivery. I believe they are trying to delay the car so that they can try as many coe bidding as they can.

This is only 1 example.

Anyway, since ive signed the papers already. The rest ill leave it to the consciousness of the SE.

Peace out.

mkl22,

- i do agree with you:
its all a business transaction. a consumer has every right to shop around. why cant we play tricks on PIs since they pull stunts on us all the time.
- go ahead play trick with those cmi PIs.

---------------------------------------------------
as for this suiLenroc

i dont have alot of confidence in PIs in general.
- then dun buy from PIs and pls dun play our members out

Of course there are good ones and bad apples, but ive seen and heard too many underhand means and flipping of stories till im tired.
- wat apple are you?

- car is here, coe got... then wat?

- signed the papers from PI or MM?
- imho: when one match your request (price, omv, package, warranty, bidding, black color) you should be truthful about it. if u dun wan then tell him/her dowan. no need make him/her wait for you till the shop closed... then fly aeroplane.
- did you honour your word?

Peace out.
- what peace you wan?

i am not a PI. i anti LJL and CBK...

Well, if you agree with mkl, u should not come here and throw a big fuss. Its a business transaction and i have the right to shop ard. Your friend's deal is pretty decent up till the very end where i found another better one. So i guess it makes alot of sense for me to reject your friend's offer. Well, if this is what you call playing out, so be it.

Of course there are good ones and bad apples, but ive seen and heard too many underhand means and flipping of stories till im tired.
- wat apple are you?

Well, im no apple. I just an individual wanting to get a rx8 peacefully but i cant say the same for the PI industry. Do a search in the forum and u will know the screw up stories with the PI.

The conclusion i came up with after this ordeal is that, most PI's price will be similar. The apparant difference in price is due to the stunts they will pull on you. On the phone, everything also got, what you want all can. Ask them to write B&W, i wont be so sure then.

Anyway, since ive signed the papers already. The rest ill leave it to the consciousness of the SE.

Like i mentioned earlier, your friend's offer is pretty decent until the very end. Its true he did meet most of my criteria but its just tough luck when another PI can do it better at the very last min thus i just have to reject him. For your info, i did not promise anything to anyone, the closest i said was the chance of agreeing on the deal is very high. Eventually, i signed with a PI whom i could say have some relationship with my relatives. Its no foolproof but at least its better then venturing into the unknown.

Peace out.
- what peace you wan?

Lol, you are not a PI but a gd friend a certain PI. I anti kpkb people.

Cant imagine you are an engineer, come on where is your class man. Your words are utterly distasteful. Stop being a whiner and complain when i did not buy from your friend. Cry me a river pls.

Well, i did ask for your opinion as well as a few other respectable forumers but none is like you, blatantly selling your friend's services. Not that i mind tho, honestly no one is forcing you to help but i must give ya some credits for even taking the effort to reply my queries.

I will not say im rich but im definately much younger then you. I can afford the rx8 just like you do, so go think abt it.

1800-no-abuse

This line of words are odious but i will not stoop to that level, not for me.

U ask for black color. he sold the last unit.

You know sometimes i really ask myself why am i even bothered with you. Anyway, if ya wanna start something like this, at least show some respect to yourself and get the facts right. During the last 24 hrs in which im deciding to sign with which PI, ur gd friend was really pushing me hard, stating i have to sign today within the next hours or so and guess what its almost 2k extra with ur friend. First, it was sold, then moments later, he got the car again but unfortunately the car available belong to the other big PI. And so conincidentally, the PI he is getting from is also selling me the car. So in your opinion, do you think your friend can get the car for me? No chance. /sobs

All in all, just face reality, ur friend is running a service business and you are his gd friend. I as the consumer just want the best deal for myself. You know, nothing is firm until i pen down the contract, so dont start embarking on a meaningless banter when what he lost is just time.

P/s: That is what service line is all about fyi. Anyhow your friend is a pretty nice dude, somehow patient and stuff, it just tough luck that no deal can be struck this time. So pls get over it.

Cheers
