Can anyone tell me when the first service is due on the RX-8 (after how many miles). I'm planning to drive to Scotland this Christmas, so am trying to work out if I need my service before or after I set off

 

There has been talk of a 1000 mile check but the first official service is at 12,500 miles from what my dealer tells me.

 

Yes, 12,500 miles confirmed by handbook and dealer. I asked about an interim service, the dealer said "no need", I am surprised by that. I guess its down to your own discretion if you want to do an earlier one, but I would have thought if you keep an eye on the oil and fluid levels and listen for strange noises you'll be fine until about 6,000 - I think I might book mine in for a medical then.

 

.....you may want a full oil and filter change earlyish to ensure theres no swarf in there, but thats all.....12,500 it is!
