Small risk of damaging my car during a prodrive day would perhaps save me from bending it over the next 60 000 miles that I'll own it.
Only concern is small print in warranty?I seem to remember BMW getting out of a claim as a car had done a track day(not raced).

 

While I would much prefer to do the Prodrive day in one of Mazda's car I'll still snap up the chance to do it in mine. I also think the idea of the day as I understood it is being forgotten.

It's not about donuts , tyre smoke and on the edge cornering. It's about understanding how to make the most of the 8's engine and handling characteristics (especially in normal day driving.) If this wasn't the purpose of the day then they wouldn't be willing to do it on normal roads with a visit to your house would they.

This prodrive day is more like an advanced driving lesson. The advantage of doing it on a track is that it is a controlled environment where you are less likely to encounter a problem.

Sure there may be some high speed stuff, but I'm sure pro-drive know what they are doing.

Not a 'track day', just a driving lesson which happens to be on a track.

(Your normal insurance still won't cover you as you are not on a public road. But I don't a problem with that)

 

I would obviously prefer to do the day in someone else's car, if only for tyre wear, but as several have said this is not a race day, it is to learn how to get the best from the car/engine.

Being new to rotary, I am looking forward to my day and am hoping to get a lot from it which will improve my enjoyment of the car as well as being a lot of fun.

You have the option not to go, or to have them come to you and do a road course which will obviously be more restrained if it is on the public highway.

I cant see any warranty issues if anyone has problems, as this is an official Mazda sanctioned track day.
