Question VERY Nasty Noise

Done just over 1000 miles and was having alittle bit of fun with it. Went over 6000rpm and there was a sound like a ball-bearing being rattled around just behind the centre console. I immeadiatly eased off and the noise stopped. Accelerated a little later on and the same thing happened, again at ~6000rpm

The noise is very loud and sounded mechanical in nature. Made my blood run cold..............thought I'd killed the little bugger.

Hasn't happened since though; was it due to the fact that this was the first time for the car over 6000rpm or is that just me being stupid and optimistic??

Seen a few similar post on the USA forum but no one seems to know what it is.

I hope none of you out there have had the same sound but if you have please let me know.

Cheers

I had a similar experience the first time I passed about 6,500 rpm...(infact it happened again for a bit the next time I passed 8,000 rpm) never came back and now after 12000Kms ... still no problems.

My mechanic wasn't sure what it was...
