Track days wih the RX8
So who's going to take their RX8's on track days (you can tell I'm dreaming about getting my new car today rather than working?)
Despite having a race track 2 miles from my house (Pembrey race circuit) I've never been on a track day but get the feeling the RX8 may inspire me to. Has anyone on the forums got experience of track days?

Done Brands Hatch , Donington and Nurburgring.... (although I acknowledge that the 'ring is not really a track day - although it is 10 times scarier/dangerous !)
Track days are fine - there has been alot of fuss in the forums about this.
Dont pound round lap after lap - the car will not take it. 1 or 2 'hotish' laps and a cool down is the way to do it. Plus it is no fun just wearing out a set of tyres and warping brakes !
Never seen any trouble that was not dealt with quickly.
It is not a race. No overtaking in a corner. Only overtake on the left. Only overtake when the overtakee indicates for you to do so. If you overtake anyway before someone indicates , you will be black flagged and removed. Harsh but fair. If someone is a mobile roadblock for lap after lap they will also get flagged.
Pro-drive day may give you a taster....

I'll certainly be taking mine on a few days out.
Have now done over a dozen track and airfield days, including Silverstone GP, Brands GP, Donnington, Oulton Park, Castle Coombe, Mallory Park and Folembray in France...
It's not as bad as some people will have you believe and 9 times out of 10 everyone is very well behaved. I've never finished off a set of tyres and/or brakes in one day, and I drive my cars *hard*..

I have to say when i bought by Bike the dealer suggested doing a track day, he said I would learn more about riding in a day than i would in a year on the road.
I'm sure the same must go for a car, i would lso add that I have far more confidence in the car thatn on the bike so i'd love to have a go.
When we all have our cars perhaps we could arrange a meet at a track day?
