Test drives next week

Yippee. Dealer (Brooklyn - Redditch) rang late last night to confirm the following:

1. They will (I hope) get a Silver and a Red RX8 next thursday (28th Aug) evening, both Hi Power.

2. The dealer has had to pay all insurance and transportational costs to Mazda to secure the vehicles.

3. Both cars have been run-in.

4. As I was the first to order in Jan from this dealer, I get the first go on Friday (29th) morning.

5. They will have both cars at the dealership until Monday (1st Sept).

Many thanks (if all of this transpires) to Paul Gill (Brooklyn) for arranging the above.

MarkW, Giggsy, 18ME and Topic, you all live nearby. If you haven't had a call, get your ar$es down there next week.

Paul, will call me later to confirm the time for fridays test drive. Now I just need to borrow a digital camera.

AnilS.

AnilS,

I may well contact them for a test drive, and see if I can transfer my order to be with them instead of my current dealer who is adament they will have no cars until October.

Thanks for the info.

MarkW, if your with Colliers (Sutton Coldfield), I've heard from two friends that have brought cars from them, that they aren't very good (they used a different, more damning word).

AnilS.

P.S. Paul (Brooklyn) also stated that they are going to turn the acquisition of the 8s to a weekend event.

Anil,

Spoke with Paul this afternoon, very pleasant guy ( Hi Paul )and has booked me in for a test drive on Saturday 30th. Well Happy.

I also mentioned I would be happy to transfer my order to them if they want to, but Paul is not sure if that is possible.

He knew me straight away as The "MarkW" from the forum, oh to be famous lol, and guessed it was you who told me

Anyway, well pleased and looking forward to next wekend now, and thanks to Paul for being so accommodating.

Mark - I spoke to the Mazda helpline about this and they said I could do this without affecting my order.

No, do you mean "Edwards of Stratford" because I'm sure they have'nt got a Mazda dealership.

I ordered through Leamington Mazda.

Does this mean NO test drives in any car "hi or low" power?

Phil was going to phone me yesterday regarding the test drives and he hasn't been in today so I'm waiting to hear from him tommorrow.

Did you manage to transfer your order to Brooklyn or have you not tried yet?

I phoned me dealer this morning for info and had the normal reply.......sorry but all the sales staff are busy, I'll get someone to phone. Guess what? no surprise there then as no one as yet as ever returned me call.
I always have to phone 2 or 3 times to get through to someone who actually knows what the RX8 is.

I havent tried yet. They werent sure if this was possible, though someone else posted they were told by the helpline they could do this.

I was going to talk to them on Saturday about it after the test drive, but Im not sure what the score is now after Anils post.

If no test drives on Saturday, I will be very disappointed but hopefully they will be getting cars to drive on another weekend soon.

A particular dealership has kicked up a stink regarding test drives.
I do hope its possible to transfer my order. I only placed my order with them because it was convenient to work, but they have inconvenienced me so I don't think they ought to have my money or my custom.
I can't understand why some dealers behave the way they do.

oh well, i guess i'll just go ahead and organise my own test drive tomorrow.

first stop my local BMW dealer followed by my local audi dealer.

nearly new, drive away on the day would certainly end the uncertainty. (plus both dealers have been more favourable towards a trade in)

I spoke to the RX8 helpline a few months ago regarding changing dealerships and whether it would affect my place in the queue and the answers were , Yes- just phone up the helpline and they will change it for you , and No - it won't affect your place in the queue. I'm going to do the same thing next week as my current pre-order dealer (FRF in Swansea) have only ever returned 2 of my 10-12 calls whereas the Mazda dealership in Cardiff has arranged a test drive for me next week despite my pre-order being with another dealership at the moment.
