Strange feeling now its here.

Well, after several long months, lots of ranting, endless letters to the high and mighty at Mazda, the 8 finally sits on my driveway.

I won't repeat all the things already said by new owners, except it looks fantastic.

The strange thing is, as it only has 18 miles on the clock, it feels very alien inside. The driving impression has yet to grow, but I know all things will get better.

Theres also a strange burning smell, which I noticed when I stopped to pick the kids up. Newness maybe.

Anyway too late to post pics as its getting dark but mate arriving in a TT in a few minutes. Lets see what happens.

Oh, and one problem. Keep going up to the lounge window to sneek a peek at it.

Sensational. I'm going to love the experience of getting to know it better.

Happy AnilS.

Run it in gently, don't be tempted to push it too hard too quickly, because that temptation will be strong and there's no need as you can have fun with it under 6,000rpm until it's worn in properly...

The more you drive it, the more you'll come to love it. I've just hit around 250miles having owned it for four days and every single drive just gets better than the last.

Cherish it, love it, look after it and most of all.... Zaino it!

At last - all the complaining has paid off. Go out and enjoy

Although I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, I think we should all be thanking you for being one of the most vociferous complainants on the board and for giving Mazda UK the stick that we were scared to do. May be you managed to keep them just a little bit more honest than they were going to be.

Thanks

Glad to hear you got it and stuck with it, it will be worth it. If your experience is anything like mine, your enjoyment will double every time you drive it. Just take it out on your favourite roads and you will be amazed how driveable it really is.
And I got the burning smell, still do ocassionally after 800 miles. Suspect it is paint somewhere on the exhaust.

AnilS,

Now is the time to change that signature.

No more letter writing so no need to worry about the spelling. All mistakes forgiven here, even to those misguided enough to buy any other model of car.

Well done, seriously hope all the angst has now dissipated.

Congrats AnilS - so was it worth the wait / pain etc?

I suspect so!

By the way it should be - 'Strange feeling now it's here.'

Cool corrosion coating dude!

That burning smell is something called Prolene? basically is an oil coat sprayed on the entire undercarriage and rotors, brakes, etc to protect the 8 on the boat ride over. Apparently that salt sea air on the boat loves to corrode the exhaust and bare metals. it will burn off in the first few hundred miles. No worries. I didn't smell any more burning stuff after about 150 miles.

Many thanks too you all for your support (especially you AndyPearce ) for corrections throughtout my rants. I did repond (couldn't resist) to Jeremy Thomson's reply, again it was very truthful, to which Chris Twine replied in kind.

Just completed 80 miles and its brilliant. Went on a course today but during each break had to go for a sit in it.
Drove past Longbridge in rush hour traffic this morning, and people just stared at it. Noticed a Hyundai coupe (Bloke), Audi TT (Babe) and Megane Coupe (Bloke) all pointing at it and discussing it with their passenger(s).

Just trying to fine excuses to drive it at the moment.

Plate to go on soon.

Regards, AnilS.

Remember AnilS, don't over expose it in the Midlands, some of us have got another two months to go. Enjoy some nice drives out of the area.
