Angry Still 4 months

Feels like I've already waited ages.

Could have staded my focus in for some summer fun in an mx-5 or whatever instead of waiting and waiting and waiting.

I should get www.autotrader.co.uk banned on our proxy too...

Seen a nice TVR chimp too, wonder if I can convince my wife its reliable enough ....

Just wanted to say: TVRs and "reliable" should NOT be used in the same sentence, unless there is a negative word somewhere in there.....

had a TVR for 9 years

in the first and second years when I drove 15K and 5K miles there was no problem.

only once i stopped using the car daily did the problems arise. it got so bad though that if i went out i didnt know if i was coming back!

so i guess it depends on how you use the car

(still love tvrs and the knocking 200mph cerbera has four seats and second hand is rx8 money)

Exactly, people knocking TVRs generally haven't owned one of the newer models.

TVRs become more reliable with use, it's the ones that are left sat around that tend to have the faults, the daily drivers tend to be reliable to the end.

Plus anyone who wouldn't consider one is crazy, in my opinion they're quite possibly the best sportscars available bar none (and I have driven a lot).

Thata a bit of a bugger then as most people wouldnt have one for daily use as they are perceived to be unreliable. People then buy them as 2nd/3rd cars and leave them sitting around and hence a reliable car becoming unreliable!

I have always loved TVRs and may one day have one. It wont be long before Tuscans are below £25k, but then again early ones have had their problems.

It's a tricky one. The Tuscan is just absolutely rediculous for the money - the looks, power, handling will embarress almost everything this side of 100k... and for half that price.

I have concerns over the Speed Six engines though. There seems to be a bit of a reliability issue which goes unresolved (my car currently away for it's second rebuild now in 17,000 miles - dealer currently has 7 speed-six engine'd cars lying around awaiting their engines from Blackpool).

At least this is covered by warranty though, and they'll get to the bottom of the problem soon (the AJP8 in the Cerbera suffered from problems in it's early years also). I have to say, every other part of the car has run like clockwork. No bits falling off, no electrical problems, no rattles, squeaks...

Definately don't knock one til you've tried one though... and once you have, you probably won't look back..

I cannot be accounted among the TVR fans, simply because TVRs dont even exist in Greece (has to do with INSANELY high taxes due to engine displacement). Guys who are able to afford a TVR in Greece are usually those who have a Ferrari, a Porsche AND a Z06 lying around in their garage

Anyway, I have seen and tested a TVR (Cerbera) in Greece, when it was in my friend's shop (used cars lot), and I must say that the whole car felt ready to start falling off in bits and pieces. Nothing felt secure or of decent quality, everything rattled, and these in a car that didnt have more than 50K on the odometer. Now, in my book, this is unreliable or simply poor assembly quality (which will inevitably lead to unreliability).

I do agree that the Cerbera and the Tuscan are VERY nice cars, but ONLY if you can afford to pay huge amounts of money just to keep them running for A FEW thousands miles. That means you MUST be very rich. I'm not, so......
