Sport Exhaust II

Now that the cars are coming through has anybody taken the sports exhaust option??

I need to decide and am receiving mixed information about increased output (or not), better noise (over 7k revs?) and larger bore (extra 11/2 inches diameter?).

Any owner out there with the real facts.

No first hand experience, but my dealer said (unprompted) that it did not increase power output and was primarily just a different noise

I'm a sucker for improved sound effects, but I've got to wait until next year as the sports exhausts are on back order.

Rael, whats your dealer said about availability?

Picking my car up tonight, so I'll ask them then exactly how long delivery will be on the sports exhaust, as I want it NOW.

My dealers demo car has the sports exhaust fitted. Doesn't seem to have any effect at all!

In effect, do you mean in both performance and sound?

My dealer has it installed also. Says no improvement in power OR noise!

Waste of time.

Rubbish, there has to be an difference somewhere otherwise why offer it. Visually its bore is much large, it has a difference note above 4k revs and my dealer thinks it also has a impact on performance. The exhaust is a complete new system all the way from the egine with one less box, something has to happen.

I dont know why people are rushing in for this.

Within a few months there will be better, cheaper 3rd party exauhsts available. Why buy this one now?

Mazda producrt made to fit onto Mazda car covered under Mazda warranty.

Be careful before you mess with the exhaust if not Mazda sponsored. could negatively impact performance.

Goose,

I understand, my dealer suggest otherwise and common sense dictates so too but price may be a big punt to take. I have because I believe there is a diffence.

Just spoke to another dealer part department who confirmed that little difference in output although may see improvments once engine has bedded down after about 5k, visually bigger and certain noise difference.

I realise the warranty issue.
