Angry Nightmare!!!

You are not going to believe this.

I have had faith in Mazda all along, didn't bitch, was chilled out and generally upbeat that when I eventually get my car it will all be worth it.

You may remember some time ago that I got my delivery date of 11th November and got a call today from my dealer that my car had arrived and would I like to go and see it.

Chuffed, excited after all this time, I left work early to get to the dealers. The rep gave me the key to the gleaming velocity red RX 8 in the compound. I took some photographs from the outside opened the door with the key to find, .... an all black interior. I specifically ordered a red/black interior back in January.

This isn't my car I said, theres a mix up. No mix up that's your car. This went on for 10 minutes.

The dealer checked his system , VIn number was for me, and the confirmation said 'leather interior' not black/black or red/black.

Anyway to cut a long story they could order another one but will be there on 5th December...... (that means someone could walk off the street and get one straight away) but whats the point of ordering in January and getting one 4 weeks after everyone else. Its a great car but this is so frustrating.

Everything from Mazda I've got says leather interior with no colour choice except on my dealers form.

So, my question, has anyone who ordered red/black interior got anything in writing from Mazda UK that says red and black interior, or like mine does it just say leather Interior.

Also, if anyone has ordered the red and black and now wants black I'll swap!!

If I order the car for 5th December then some luck scrot can walk in and get the car I ordered and be driving it on Tuesday.

Life is really sh*itte at the moment.

tinck,

Sorry to hear that m8.

I drove a Silver with all black leather today and liked the all black more than I thought I would.

I have ordered red/black leather, and thats what it said when I enquire on the internet pre-order site, so thats what I should be getting.

Ive also checked the letter showing the notification of delivery month, and that says red/black leather in writing.

I dont pick it up until the 14th, but if for any reason I dont like it (unlikely im afraid), I would consider swapping to an all black.

Hopefully you will have something sorted by then though anyway.

Mark

Feel for you mate.

Sounds like a dealer **** up when entering the order into the order website.

So sorry to hear that mate.

Mine says Red/Black Leather on the order and confirmation.

If it's a Dealer "**** up" he should sort it out. Why not ask him if you can use his demo until yours arrives?

Either that or get him to do a deal on the black leather one where you can swop later at no financial loss.

He must be able to help.

Cheers

That's pretty hard to take. Wait 9 months and they get it wrong!
I've just checked my paperwork again, as I originally aked for black interior and then changed to red/black before the order officially went in. My paperwork says red leather.

Serious decision (help wanted)

Follow on from Nightmare!

Ok so its not that serious, but what would you guys do. Irrespective of what I can get as a loan car, probably not RX8 demo etc, would you,

Take the 8 with the black leather now, because, the novelty of wanting a car no one else has got (which I've been waiting for for 10 months) will have gone after I see all you guys driving around in em!!

or

Wait until December for the red and black leather, and lock myself away for a month.

or

persuade the dealer to sell me their showroom 192 bhp with the red leather.

God I'm Pis*ed off, don't know if I can hold out for another month

1) which is more important, leather colour or bhp ???
2) can you put up with one thats been crawled over in the showroom

If the answer to 1 is bhp and 2 is not touched then get the black leather anyway.
If the answer to 1 is leather colour and 2 is don't care about showroom then get the 192ps and save £2k.
Otherwise, well I dunno. I've always wanted 6 gears man, so I would swallow the leather thing. Besides, I guess its less risque to have straight black (!) and so easier to sell on?

good luck mate.

As I joined your previous post and was none too helpful, my gut feeling, based on only a fairly short involvement with the RX-8 love affair is this.

I only started to find out about the car some two months ago, saw the pictures, joined the forum and felt that this was the car for me. Having made this decision it then took me a month or more to get a test drive and having taken this yesterday I am also in love with the vehicle.

Having placed the order yesterday I have already started to fret as to how long I may have to wait and already the suspense is getting to me, so I can imagine your dilemma after having waited so long.

Personally, I think the issue of the colour of the leather will fast fade in the mind once you start to drive the car. The overiding experience of driving the car will banish any discontent over choice of seat colour. Right now if the only colour car available was Puce and the seat covering was canvas I think I would still buy it, albeit not at £22k.

I think the HP issue would drive you nuts, even if there was no real difference, just because everyone would ask which version you had and your reply to them would cause you to mutter it under your breath, "Low Power actually"

Well that's my 'two penneth' for what it's worth. Take what they have and try and negotiate some extras on the strength of it.

Regards.

You decided what you wanted, unless you have changed your mind hold out for it. If you were going to compromise you could have got a different car long ago. OK so other people will be driving theirs first, you'll still be before me, and we're only talking about a few weeks.

How long are you thinking of keeping the car, and for that time will you be thinking 'I really wanted the red leather'? If you like the black (and I wouldn't consider the red myself) then go for what they have. If you really want the red then agree to take the car on condition that they get the red seats shipped over and swapped in.

Whatever you decide, make the decision for the lifetime of the car and not just the next couple of weeks.

Tinck, have to agree with Oilman on this one. Take the car, you will lose all disappointment once the compliments start flying in. I would also push for some freebies thrown in, maybe some accessories and the first service, as a minimum.

No doubt you could wait til December but you'll see lots of us posting like Si about our new babies that'll make you wish you took the car earlier.

Failing this, you're dealer should be forced to pull out the stops to source an identical replacement sooner from cancelled stock.

Let us know which way you go.

Hold out for the spec and colour you want most. Heopfully you'll be hanging on to it for quite a while, so its not worth compromising for the sake of one month, even if it is agony. I don't put much stock by exclusivity as whenever you get it, somone two doors down will get exactly the same a week later.

Cheers

I think the suggestion on the other post is the best.

It's sombodys fault, the Dealer or Mazda UK.

They should allow you to take the car that has been ordered and allow you to use that until the correct car is delivered. It's not like they won't be able to sell it after you have had it for a month is it?

They owe you big time, they cocked up not you!

Tell them what you want and don't take no for an answer.

Hmmm, I ordered in November 2002, and my car isn't coming until some time in December without any reason... at least you have a reason.

Unhappy Nightmare.....

That is NOT good.

Tell him to get on that computer and find you the right car, and get it trucked to you PRONTO!

Get on to Mazda U.K. and verbally kick some ****!

DO NOT accept the black! It is a pitiful excuse for an interior, bland and dull, belongs in a BMW.

I have the red leather and people who are impressed by the exterior are blown away when they see the seating!

Good luck.

Felix.

I would be making a huge fuss over this. Do not accept the car being offered. Some screwed up and it wasn't you.

You should be talking to the dealership manager, not sales. They have an obligation to get you the car that you ordered, not just what they decided to select for you.

I would not accept the current car, and would wait for a replacement. But they have to ensure that the next correct spec car goes to you. Talk to the dealership manager and definitely talk to Mazda UK.

Either way they should be offerring some sort of compensation, either for the extra wait, or for the loss of spec.

If its red/ black you really want the I suggest you wait, it's not that long. However, the all black in nice and not as dark as everybody thinks but if you want that splash of colour it will not do for you.

i watched my dealer input the order info, and the interior option for red/black stated only red. I asked him a couple of times that this is definately red/black, as I definately didn't want an all red interior, Yuk!

Not that this helps but I saw my car and the dealers demo today both had the red/black and I found it stunning, as it lifted the interior of the car, whereas IMO the all black makes the interior a little dark!

Flame suit ON!

I agree tha you should wait. Why compromise at this late stage

HOWEVER

I would complain to buggery about this situation & ensure that you get some sort of deal whether it be in a replacement 8 (doubtful) or 6 or mx5 or something in terms of free accs. This seems to be a Mazda UK problem not a dealer problem so what have they said?
