I think we should have an owners club and I suppose a direct name link address (ie RX8ownersclub) would make sense and not reference to the engine.

I agree that not everybody is buying the 8 because of the engine, in fact I would say the majority of the 1400 or so orders are there because of the cars looks, 4 seats and pricing. To most the engine is a mystery and needs to be proven and is in fact the most negative thing about the car at the moment (ie oil usage, high mpg etc) but that is because we don't have Mr Rogers experience (and I do so very much hope he is right with his enthusiasm).

Accordingly discussion will be about the car in general not only the engine and the site should reflect this.

rael.

Might be worth registering rx8oc.co.uk as well... it's only a few quid.

Any suggestions for content/format etc wither bring up at irc or post to webmaster email address at bottom of site.

For now I think it might be worthwhile putting 'Unofficial - not part of or affiliated with Mazda Motors UK' or something similar, until we get actual recognition from the flying M.

Perhaps a note stating we are persuing that would be good as well.

Don't want any nasty leagal surprises in our first few days online.

Good idea, do me a favour and email me with that (use the webmaster email on the site) - I'll pick that up tomorrow. - I've contacted Mazda and am awaiting a response.

Hi all,

All us UK people with RX-8's must stay in contact together, mazdarotaryclub.com will be holding a number of events next year. Be great if we could do a joint thing.

Also - don't forget Santa Pod http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forum...3&referrerid=1

We have now got Mazda on board to bring an RX-8 along - which is WONDERFUL NEWS!

I know our club is called www.mazdarotaryclub.com, I also think that we didn't get all our members due to the engine itself, it is more of a car thing.

Anyways as I said - would be great if we can all combine meetings etc. in the future.

Lonely member ?

As I am, untill now, still the one and only (private) buyer of an RX8 in Holland, and very keen on joining or starting an RX8 club, it will be very lonely at meetings here in Holland.
If possible, I would like to join clubs abroad and learn more about the Renesis engine et cetera.
You all could come over during spring, and we will drive around beautiful fields of tulips and so forth. First we have to get our cars.
Because of the very long waiting for my car (dec-jan) my dealer is given me this week a book about the history of rotary and the making of the RX8.

Greetings to you all from a very wet and stormy Holland.

Eric

Dear Rob,

That's correct. Only one, to me.
There is a handfull (not more than that) sold to Mazda Management. They will probaly drive for a period and then sell those cars as demo's.
I am also very keen on buying extra's for the 8, but Mazda Holland does not know a thing at this moment.

Kind regards again,

Eric

I might be driving over to Utrecht in June, we usually do every year (except this one, lack of holidays, so had to fly in and out on the day). Dutch roads are good, a lot of wide dual carridgeways, although rather staight - but instead of roundabouts you have tight curved ramps, which are great for testing cornering ability.

Enjoy the book, its a good read while you are waiting.

Cheers

Dear Rael,

Weather was indeed as bad as it could be, even worse.
I think we can can compete with UK weather, allthough it seems to be a bit warmer during the year over here.

And Dave, roads in Holland are perhaps nice to drive on, don't try to go to fast. On every corner there's a camera, or a policeman with a radar, therefore I think I have to go to Germany to speed up my RX8 a bit. On some highways there are no limitations.

The book about the 8 was given to me yesterday by my dealer.
It is indeed impressing and my patience on waiting for my 8 has now reduced to a minimum. Anyway, let's get together sometime, and exchange impressions.

Regards,

Eric

Are BMW's invisible to radar in Holland? When driving there with my speedo reading the same number in miles per hour as the speed limit is in km per hour, there is always a BMW two inches (5cm) behind wanting to go past, and I've never seen any of them being pulled over!

Which reminds me, does the RX8 have a button to switch between mph and km/h for those driving between the continent and the UK? As with a digital speedo you dont have a gauge marked in both.

[QUOTE][B] Anyway, let's get together sometime, and exchange impressions.[B]

Perhapse you can come over to the UK for an owners club meeting. If you drive at UK mph speed limit in km/h you should be safe from our every increasing number of speed cameras!

Cheers

Dear Dave,

If BMW's are invisible, I couldn't tell. But don't count your chickens....... It's getting worse on the roads. Big brothers are watching us.
And about the meeting in the UK, I'dd love to come over if I am welcome at the club. But driving the km/ph instead of m/ph will drive others on the road mad I guess.
First I will visit London in December (by bus)

Regards,

Eric
