Pricing

When mazda announced the list price for the RX8 it was generally percieved as lower than expected; therefore, on paper, a bit of a bargain. Where did everyone expect the price to be pitched and whats the maximum price at which you would have still pre-ordered?

I was expecting 225TT money, 25-27k and was over the moon at 23.5k. Probably would have paid TT money if I'm honest!!

Cheers

dealer and car reviews set the expectation at 26K, i was putting my deposit down on that basis in the showroom when the dealers got the news of 22K.

so i was prepared to pay at least 26K

I had always assumed it would be high twenties, at which price I probably wouldn't have bought. 22K was a pleasant surprise and I probably would have gone up to 25K - but that was when I thought it had 240 hp. Even with the power reduction it's still very good value, but not an astonishing bargain like some of the media have suggested.

I was kind of interested in the car when it was first announced as £26k. But I think for that money I'd have waited till they were out on the roads before committing. Would have bought the S2000 instead (now there's a suprise):p

I had set myself a limit of £25k, and I probably would have waited for the car also before purchasing.

The fact it came out at £22k, lower than the 350Z & Crossfire etc etc made me pre-order.

As has been said before, the car is exceedingly good value compared with everything else on the market.

I had never heard about the RX-8 until a friend sent me a link to the Mazda RX-8 website a few weeks ago. As soon as I saw the spec, looks, performance and got an insurance quote the price sealed the deal. Given that I spent the best part of a year selecting my last car (3 series coupe) this just shows how great a deal this car is.
