price changes to the Rx8 before delivery

Here not sure if i have seen the answer to this but worth asking.

The RX8 has already had a number of changes....

Reduction in power etc but ive also noted since i placed my order that the price has changed according to the website by a fiver. When i bought mine it was 21995 now its listed as 22000.

I know this is a small figure, but what happens if this figure alters significantly by say a thousand quid (even though i have my order documentation stating the cost of my car)

Will we get our cars at the original price or do we have to pay the difference?

Well - they reserve the right to change anything... So I guess they can.
They wont though - shouldn;t worry about it.

Motorexpo chaps did suggest that price would be going up in the next year or so , and us pre-orderers were getting very good deals...

I heard it was due to a Road tax price increase.

The price increase would probably be to give them some margin to offer discounts. You will probably pay the same in the end.

I think as part of the order acceptance information I received it stated the price I will pay, so in that sense if the price went up we will still pay the price as stated at the time of ordering.

From what I can remember from my Contract Law at a deposit constitues a contract whaereby the purchasor (me) can return at some point in the future, to be agreed, (some time soon I hope) and purchase the item for the oiriginally agreed amount less the deposit paid.

To add something from a company car perspective (yes, I know I am in the minority) when out latest list was sent out the RX8 was comparitively "cheap" compared to other cars in the same price bracket. Now that the residuals have been said to be far lower than originally expected I would expect the car to go up in price on the next list. This is what happened when they changed the shape of the imprezza mk 1 to 2 it went up in price per moth by £70 yet the retail price hadn't changed.

Regarding price changes.

When I spoke to my dealer last week, he indicated that the price of the RX-8 may increase after the launch, not by much but an increase never the less.

I assume this will be dictated by the laws of supply and demand, I mean when people see the cars on the road demand will be immense and Mazda will be able to charge what ever they want.
