Ordered September due in November
Just off the phone to my dealer. I placed an order on the 29/9/03. He claims that my car is showing up as delivery to him on the 25th November...!!! I feel so guilty...
He said, "you should feel guilty, I have people who have placed their orders back in March and are showing up as December delivery"
Apparently his screen shows my order being placed 29/9 and built on the 1/10..!!
He said (and I quote) "There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the delivery dates"

Well done again, you are very lucky. What spec did you order. By the way, I orderd mine in Jan this year, hi power, red, red leather + sat nav, not turing up at the dealer until 05/12/03 - you can understand why me and other memebers are p*ssed off with Mazda - please do not take this personally.

I'd rather not say, however it is 60 miles from London to the east. I would be ballistic if it was me. My take on it is as follows: There are only 100+ forum members but 1000+ orders. Me thinks there are going to be quite a few cancellations. Therefore the cancelled car goes to other pre-order. This is where it is going wrong..!!
Also, I did enquire how my car could have a build date 1 day after an order date. The dealer did not know. Unless Mazda have orders in the system to pre-empt buyers requests - this just aint possible.

Interesting ... my car was built on 30th September, but is not due until 5th December at the dealer.
SAT NAV must add about a week to the delivery by the sound of things

I believe that in Australia, the dealers had an RX-8 allocation based on previous MX5 sales (this is what my dealer told me when I signed up the order for my car). So when you get your car may depend on which dealer you ordered from, and what they have or haven't sold all of their allocation.
I spent a couple of weeks ringing around between dealers when I bought mine and I significant variations between how soon I could get a car.. and it all boiled down to their allocation and colour/option combination.
This may or may not apply in the UK. It may also not be as applicable until all the pre-orders are filled. But thought you might find it of interest.
